I've received a few emails and messages from people attending the rally for the first time (or more), asking if they should go an Eat and Greet Luncheon (formerly called the Mentor Lunch).
My answer is a resounding YES. Go to at least one, especially if you've never done this before. You can read about it on the Taxi site. https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/asse ... _final.pdf
I know first hand that deals have been made because a mentor listened to music from a participant. Remember, a number of mentors are library owners or supervisors. I also know first hand of great collaborations that resulted from the luncheon. A mentor can find that someone has a skill set they really need and offer to collaborate. Examples, not at all limited to these: styles, vocals, instruments played, genre experience, lyrics, etc. And you'd be collaborating with someone with an excellent track record. There is no guarantee that every mentor will listen to your music, but many do.
Also, you might form worthwhile relationships with the other attendees sitting at your table. If you're shy, what better way to meet a few people than to be seated next to them at a luncheon?
Budgets are tight, I get it. You've come all that way, traveling to LA for the rally. I think you should make the most of it!

Tip: Get on line for it early. When you get in the room, choose a table on the side as opposed to the middle- a little less noisy. The mentor's seat is labeled. Try to sit as close as possible to that seat.
