Seeking advice on listing S250118NL

Post by JimOfferman » Sat Jan 11, 2025 1:01 am

I’m seeking some advice on how to proceed with my (work-in-progress) track Ascendant for listing S250118NL:
Lots of EPIC, ORCHESTRAL TRAILER-Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a BRAND NEW Music Licensing Company, led by a CEO with a strong track record of working with Major Clients and landing some very notable placements. They are currently looking to build up their catalog, and this is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a Company that is poised to make waves in the industry!

This company is on the lookout for a bunch of Instrumentals in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

”Today We Fight" by Really Slow Motion & Giant Apes

"Before The End" by David Edwards and Max Cameron

"Exogenesis" by Twelve Titans Music

Quoting the CEO: "3-Act Structures are required."

Please submit well-orchestrated Trailer-Style Instrumentals with an epic sound and loads of dramatic and exciting energy! Your submissions should have powerful, awe-inspiring motifs, and three "acts" that build to a climactic crescendo. Please craft your pieces around one central motif and create dynamics, interest, and tons of exciting, forward development by layering instrumentation in and out as the pieces progress to a huge, climactic ending. Orchestral instrumentation that's in the general stylistic ballpark of the references will work best. Please make sure that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality, very realistic-sounding, and well-articulated.

Submissions should be about 2 to 2.5 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Please do NOT copy the referenced examples in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.
My question: one reference (“Before the End”) is a beautiful and slow dramatic piece in a style I like to call “game over music”, while the other two are far angrier actions cues. My track currently leans towards slow and beautiful. Should I stick to my guns and turn in a polished version of what I have… or dial up the action feel a couple of notches to land somewhere in the middle of these references (“beautiful action music”)?

(the listing number ends with my country code, so I have to submit something…)

:)
In the ref track in introduces trailer drums at 0:47 and builds massively towards the end. So do that.

Definitely. Still, while “Before the End” builds in tension, it gets nowhere near the intensity of the other two. Should I go beyond what my “main” reference has?

It's a case of triangulating , so if the others skew much more epic then maybe bring some of that vibe in if it suits your track
