80s Glam Rock
Hey everyone,
Looking for feedback on my 80s Glam Rock track. I haven't done a ton of songs with vocals, so just wondering how you feel they sit in the mix, do they sound 80s enough etc...
Obviously, any feedback on the whole track itself would be greatly appreciated! Do you think it fits the listing below? I did two versions to see what was more Glam Rock for starting the song. Thanks so much!!
Brad

Listing:
Tons of '80s-Style GLAM ROCK / HAIR METAL SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a well-established Los Angeles-based production house/library with a very long and successful track record of tv, film, and advertising placements.
This Company is searching for Up-Tempo Songs that are in the general stylistic ballpark of the following examples:
"You Give Love A Bad Name" by Bon Jovi
"We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister
"Talk Dirty To Me" by Poison
"Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake
NOTE: This Company is open to hearing both high-quality Vintage recordings, OR recently recorded Songs in the general production style of the references and other songs like them. It was specifically requested by the Client that these tracks have an over-the-top '80s sound and style, so searing guitar solos, chest-pounding drums, massive reverbs, and theatrical, high-pitched vocals are all on the table here!
Please submit original Glam Rock / Hair Metal Songs with an over-the-top, '80s-inspired sound and style! Your submissions should include killer guitar work, exciting motifs, hard-hitting rhythms, tons of energy, solid arrangements, and well-written lyrics that fit the era and genre. Metal instrumentation in the general stylistic ballpark of the references will work best. Please make sure that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality and genre-appropriate. Well-performed vocals that capture the sound and style of the '80s Metal scene are needed!

Re: 80s Glam Rock
It's a cool song, but in my opinion I don't think it matches the references. I get more power pop/new wave vibes from this song, not so much the sleazy party glam rock flavor the songs in the references portray. I would suggest doing something more riff-driven from the start, or starting with a catchy chorus like We're Not Gonna Take it / You Give Love a Bad Name. Overall I think it needs to be less like a serious ballad and more fun, sleazy, and riff-driven.

Re: 80s Glam Rock
Thanks for the feedback! I do have a version where I start with a gang vocal chorus by itself followed by the end riff I used here...but putting it at the start of the song. That is more of an actual riff... I'll try to tweak that version which may be closer to the examples.
Thanks!
Brad
Thanks!

Awww man, I LOVE this!! You're hitting me right in the ol' "guilty vice" vein with this one. I love 80's hair rock, and this checked all the buttons for me. There's another guy who's a forum regular (also named Brad!) who does this kind of stuff as well - I'm hoping you'll hear something from him, as his thoughts would probably be pretty golden.
Get's my two thumbs up though!

Re: 80s Glam Rock
Thanks, Matt! That means a lot coming from a veteran like yourself! As you know, there's not too many listings for hair metal, so any time I can break out my SPX 90 Chorus and actually solo...I'm in! Ha! I've heard some of Bradley's songs as well....he rocks it! Hopefully he'll chime in as well.VanderBoegh wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 3:07 pmAwww man, I LOVE this!! Hi Brad,
Did you do all of the production and instruments? Who did the vocals? Sounds like 80s rock to me, this track reminds me of Skid Row and Whitesnake. Would you be up for collaboration? If you are, feel free to message me your email address.

WOW!! Amazing dude!! Whitesnake one of my favorite from the 80's. I hope this goes through and doesn't get flagged by the guitar solo but I understand how can you not rip into a solo on a track like this.

Hey..thanks! It did mention "searing guitar solos" in the description, which isn't common, so I went for it! Haha

Re: 80s Glam Rock
Thanks! Yes, I did all the vocals, instruments and production. I really haven't done anything before with vocals so I wanted to get everyone's input on the forum from others who have more experience than me in that department.dtrain1986 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 7:38 pmHi Brad,
