Feedback for Listing S250226VE (Trailer Music)

Post by MCPTigerBeats » Thu Feb 13, 2025 6:32 am

Hey there! I could use a little feedback for the listing S250226VE.
Especially if the mix and master is good enough for the listing. Any feedback/critique is welcome!

Hey!

In future it's really helpful if you copy/paste the listing into the post so we can easily see it and listen to the reference tracks. I know this listing so no big deal, but it'll definitely increase your response rate!

So I dig the track. The melody is nice and it definitely has the build and sweeping sound you want. My one comment would be that the mix sounds pretty mid and high heavy. If you have one of those A/B tools, I'd put yours side by side with a couple of the references and see how they compare. Typically you want a lot of booming low end, and right now I don't hear that with yours. Otherwise it's cool!

Hey Timo!

While I like the overall flow of your track, a couple of things stood out to me:
  • The opening sounds dangerously close to one of the references, Hope Never Dies. I would try to move a bit further away from that sound.
  • The strings at 0:20 come out of nowhere. I'd either put another boom there or, perhaps, start the string ramp at the preceding boom.
  • The solo violin starting at 0:25 sounds VERY midi and you probably don't want that. I would work on the expression/modulation or perhaps give that part to another instrument.
I also agree with Geoff that your mix is sounding a bit top heavy.

Hope this helps!
Jim.
