Taxi Tips & Motivation - in video form!

Post by VanderBoegh » Sat Mar 01, 2025 9:56 am

Hey everyone! I just finished up a little 3-part series on my YouTube channel about the Taxi experience (why I credit my entire career to them, how to increase your odds of success, and how to maximize your membership). I'll embed them below. If you're on the fence about joining Taxi, or are beating your head against a wall as a current member, OR are a former member who quit out of frustration, there might be a little something in here that makes you go, "oh man, I wish I'd done THAT!"

I've been a member for over 16 years now, and have been to 12 or 13 Road Rallies, and I credit Taxi for ALL of my success. And truly, if I can make a career out of this sync composition business, then you can too!

I hope you enjoy!!

(Oh, and subscribe to my channel while you're there, if you found the videos useful, helpful, and / or motivational!)

Hey Matt,

I've enjoyed a number of your videos and found them quite helpful and practical.

One thing that I'm seeing YT videos doing more and more that you should maybe consider, especially with the three in this post: Think about adding "chapters" or markers to the videos. The above ones are obvious candidates for this, as you could mark each tip. I tend to be really impatient and once I've gotten the gist of a point, I want to move on to the next one. If you made it easy to find each individual tip, you might increase the chances of people in this Short Attention Span world of ours staying with the videos to the end.

The same could be true of your other more instructional videos. Just an idea!

Overall these are really great, thanks for making them!

Hey Geoff! Great suggestion, and this is an instance where my "YouTube Ignorance" comes into play, lol. I actually THOUGHT I did this already! They're not showing up in the actual video timeline (play / pause button timeline area), but they are in the description if you click on that. I do know that people don't always look at the video description area, especially going so far as to scroll to the bottom of it where my timestamps are located, but they are there for you. I wish I knew how to get them to show up on the actual timeline though.... maybe someone here with more YouTube knowledge than me can help me on on that.

Thanks for the feedback, Geoff - I sure appreciate it!

And thanks to Peter and Marco as well - for not only watching every video, but dropping a fun little comment on each one!!!

Yeah, I meant the scroll bar in the video...I almost never check the timeline...not sure if that's typical or if I'm unusual.

At any rate, sorry I can't help, I'm not a youtuber myself, although I bet there's a /checks notes/ Youtube video that could show you how to do it

Hey Matt,

I've been enjoying your videos as well, very educational! Especially the one on the King-Queen-Jack-Ace.. well.. that kinda blew my mind.

I took a look at your videos with regard to the chapters, and I think I may see an issue there. When looking at the information on Video Chapters, it specifically mentions you should make sure you have a chapter starting at 00:00.
When I look at your videos, I don't see that chapter pop up in the description. Maybe that's what is causing the chapters not to work?

Hope you get chapters to work for you!

Best wishes,

Paul

Ahhhh, that might be it, Paul. I just added a chapter at 00:00:00 in one of the videos as a test. It didn't make an immediate change to include the chapter markers on the video timeline, but I'll give it a few hours, as it might take YouTube a while to ingest that information and apply it to the video. Thanks for looking into that!

And thanks as well for the feedback. Funny thing about that King / Queen / Jack / Ace video.... I'm actually going to be re-recording that one this week and replacing the original video. Oddly enough, I included one of my non-exclusive tracks as the example in that video (which was also the intro & outro music), and only recently found out that one of my non-exclusive libraries claimed the exclusive rights to the Google Ad Revenue on that. So they started taking all of the ad money! SOOOO FRUSTRATING! Anyway, I was like, "ah hell no!", and am now just gonna re-record it. My videos are better now anyway (that original video was only the 2nd one I ever made), so the quality & pacing & everything oughtta be better this 2nd time around. But still, it sucks to lose my highest-performing video - but I ain't about to let that money just slip through my fingers!

Hope that fixes it, Matt. If not, I'd be happy to dive a little deeper, I'm one of those people that actually enjoys figuring out stuff like that, so lemme know!

That totally sucks about the ad money! Bit weird of them to do that, isn't it? It is, after all, non-exclusive? Looking forward to watching the new video and applying the KQJA-trick to my own upcoming cues and hopefully in a few years time see the big pile of cash flowing in! 8-)
Good luck, I'll be keeping a close eye on the channel!

Best wishes,

Paul
