No Laws, Just Drinks

Post by AlonMarcus » Tue Mar 04, 2025 9:23 pm

Hello, I'd love to get some feedback on my Mediterranean piano solo. This is the listing

Lots of SOLO PIANO INSTRUMENTALS with MIDDLE-EASTERN/MEDITERRANEAN INFLUENCES are needed by a very prolific Music Licensing Company with Distribution through some of the most well-known Publishers in the world. Their catalog has a huge reach, and they're consistently landing amazing spots for TAXI members!

TAXI Tip: If you nail this pitch and land in this company's catalog, you might not have a lot of competition when supervisors and editors are searching for this genre. This is a great chance to be a standout in a potentially under-populated genre. Zig when everybody else zags. ;-)

Sounds and influences from the following geographical areas could all potentially work: North African, Andalusian, Mediterranean, and anywhere from the Middle East all the way to India.

This Company is looking for Piano Instrumentals in ANY tempo and in the general stylistic ballpark of the references below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4JyDZpZntQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNXmu8srhh0

Please submit original Piano Instrumentals with excellent compositions and authentic motifs from the Middle East, Mediterranean, and other surrounding areas! Your submissions should have lots of culturally rich melodies, excellent musicianship, and expressive, dynamic performances. Instrumentation should consist of solo Piano only. If you decide to go with a virtual instrument, please ensure that it is extremely high-quality and very realistic-sounding. All submissions need to be original compositions.

Your submissions should be around 3 minutes in length, give or take, and definitely no shorter than 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

I'm sharing a TAXI link, but since it doesn’t always play for everyone, I’m also including a SoundCloud link. Thanks in advance!

Listening on Soundcloud while typing this - right: the TAXI link leads back to the website homepage.
This lurker will leave this one to the regulars who know the genre, listing, and may be submitting a track, too.

Good luck,

Thanks Peter, I actually found out now that sharing the link from the menu below the song in TAXI leads to a playable version of it.
Fixed it in the original post too.

Hi Alon,

I checked it out! As a former pianist myself, the playing is great! It's all spot on.... EXCEPT I'm not hearing anything that says "middle east." If anything, it's more Chopin, which is central Europe. You gotta get that flat 2 (phrygian) interval in there somewhere. Might be easier to just write a different one than trying to get that sound into this already finished good piece.

Just a thought - Mark

Hello Alon,

Very well played! Agreeing with Mark above me, excellent playing! I agree with him that there's no Middle East in here, but the Mediterrean-element is much more present. I'd definitely send this one, and perhaps produce another one that has a stronger Middle East vibe to it, just to cover your bases (if you have the time for it, of course).

Best of luck with this piece, I'm sure it'll find a good home somewhere!

Best wishes,

Paul

Thank you very much, guys! It's true—this piece leans more toward Mediterranean and Greek sounds.
