Do you guys think this is worth submitting?

Post by TLovato » Thu Mar 06, 2025 11:49 am

Lots of GUITAR INSTRUMENTALS (in a wide range of genres and styles) are needed for NON-EXCLUSIVE deals by a very well-established Media Company, known for supplying curated music for the retail locations of many top Global Brands.

TAXI members who've signed with this company have been very happy with the income they made from in-store play!

This Company is on the hunt for Instrumentals in ALL TEMPOS that could be heard on a playlist with the following references:

"Scarlet" by Mike Dawes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmf54oNI6ts

"Kadiköy Liman" by Erkin Cavus & Reentko Dirks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PzWM6dbsv4

"Antigone" by Steph Strings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yaaRULWgDQ

"Virga" by Myles Jasnowski https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZIKo2umyOQ

"Brews Blues" by Guthrie Trapp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtqaNxxgXw0

NOTE: This Company is looking for a wide range of Guitar Instrumentals, and some potential genres and styles that could work are Solo Acoustic, Indie/Folk, Jazz, Blues, Neo Soul, Classical, and other closely related genres. Please don't submit anything too far outside of those genres!

Please submit well-crafted Guitar Instrumentals with lots of great musicianship and captivating, guitar-driven melodies. This Company is open to lots of different emotional contexts, such as uplifting, peaceful, inspiring, etc. Moods should reflect what retailers want their shoppers to feel, so please avoid moods that could be sad, depressing, or melancholy. Your submissions should include solid arrangements with plenty of forward development as your piece progresses. Instrumentation and production styles may vary based on the genre and approach you take, but your tracks should prominently feature either electric or acoustic guitar. Keeping your productions on the more modern and contemporary side of things will definitely help give you the sound that this Company is looking for. Please make sure that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality and genre-appropriate. Original compositions only, please!

Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

AI ALERT: This company does not accept or sign music that has been melodically composed using generative AI, nor does it accept backing tracks or full instrumental tracks created with AI.

This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE deal. You’ll split any income from direct licensing deals 50/50 with the company, and you will keep 100% ownership of all rights. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity, and you need to be affiliated with a Performing Rights Organization for this company to include your music in their catalog. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you'd like, online or per CD. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Thursday, March 27th, 2025. TAXI # S250327UT

So I have this track lying around from a previous listing:

Do you guys think it sounds like it would be on a playlist with the references? Is the mood off? I'm definitely going to write a new track specifically for the listing, but since it's asking for a wide range of instrumentals and I don't really think this is too far off from the list of genres, I just wanted to get your guys' thoughts.

Please let me know any thoughts, I want this to be totally picked apart before I submit!

Hey,

Really cool track you've got there! I'm not entirely sure if it matches the genres asked for, to be honest, and the ending to me seems a little.. unexpected. Makes it feel a little.. unfinished, in the sense that I had expected something more to happen.
Nevertheless, I'd certainly risk the $5 on sending it in; it's well-played, doesn't seem too far off from the genres/references asked for, and I think the mood's a pretty decent match, so definitely worth a shot!

Best wishes,

Paul

Thanks! Yep I also had a weird feeling about the ending, couldn't put my finger on what it was. Guess that's the first place I'll start!

Hi Thomas,

I think it’s close in mood to the first reference by Mike Dawes. It’s tricky because the minor scale and chord progression lean towards melancholy, which a screener might pick up on. The Mike Dawes reference, however, feels more energetic and rhythmic, with a twist in the progression that shifts it from melancholy to a faint sense of hope.

I really enjoyed your playing and recording—thank you!

I think your stuff is great.... My only suggestion is maybe to back off the reverb somewhat..... ??
