Looking for feedback on my NEW rock cue

Post by TLovato » Sat Mar 29, 2025 10:13 pm

Hey guys,

Looking for some feedback on my latest rock cue I made. This was not for a TAXI listing and there wasn’t really even a brief. I made this basically for fun, but I hope to pitch it some day.

Anyway, here’s my cue!

Please let me know if I should fix anything!! What would you add? What would you subtract? Thanks guys!

Link worked for me. Sounds good! Hopefully this will get a placement in the future!

Thanks Kenjo! Yep sorry Brad, I momentarily set my profile to private for some time, it's back now though if you still want to hear it!

Cool track Tommy! Here are a couple of thoughts.....
1.) Adjusting velocity on the snare is everything when working with drum samples.... It seems like the snare is poking out too much, and is pegged at 127...Maybe go in there and set a velocity range from say 107-120??
2.) The hats and cymbals are a tad splashy - Maybe notch out some 8K or so on those??
3.) Bass Guitar could come up a bit - It seems OK in that breakdown section, but I think the lower mids in the guitars are masking it somewhat otherwise..... But, I am a bass player, and this is purely subjective! lol
4.) Maybe find some contrast between sections?? I hear from the screeners all of the time about the almighty "developmental arc," and this could help with that... Add some ear candy as the track goes on, or something for a cool transition?
All in all, I think its a cool track, and definitely syncable! I really liked the guitar tones!

Yup, I'm also looking into getting new drum software, I was looking at either EZDrummer or Superior Drummer. Thanks!

Hey Tommy,

Looks like you've received some constructive feedback. One thing that was mentioned was contrast between sections. I feel like it needs some lead guitar melody or something over the top. The lead later on seems more like a guitar solo rather than having some kind of melody.

It definitely need something to make the different sections sound different.

All in all very cool track!
