You make a good point. My frustration got the better of me today.

Honestly, Im done submitting tracks for $5 a pop. Having not heard back from a single library for any of the 7 forwards I got I find this to be feeling like a scam. Not cool. Not cool at all.
Hey man,

I get the frustration, but it's only been 2 months (since this forward). My first library contact came 3 months after the forward, and it can take much longer than that!

Have you ever tried submitting tracks to libraries directly? Because I have, and the response rate is super, super low. Like, the library might not even listen to your tracks for months (if at all). That's just the nature of the business. You can't guarantee anything, but with a Taxi forward, you can at least be sure the library will listen to your stuff (eventually).

Do what you gotta do, but it's definitely not a scam, it's the business.

Hey Brendon,
I wanted to respond as well. I read Pickles' response and yours regarding how you let your frustration get the better of you. I can only imagine how as an musician who does well in the artist world would get frustrated in the sync world. There have been a few, past and present, some of who maybe let their experience get the best of them and they quit after the first year. But there are some who stick it out, get their first deal, then their first placement and start to get their sync career going in addition to their artist life/career. I'm assuming that's why you joined Taxi, so you have to be patient, you clearly have the skills to make it happen, and it will happen if you keep at it.
I still get frustrated at the returns and the lack of hearing back from libraries. It really is the nature of this business. But I do think that it has gotten even harder in the last year or two, but that may just be my experience. I personally haven't had a new deal in almost 2 yrs now, with 51 forwards since that last deal. So I get it. But I will say that Taxi is definitely not a scam. I've had tracks placed on ABC and Cartoon Network as well as Telemundo all of which came directly from Taxi listings. But my biggest and highest paying placement came from a company that I got in contact with from a Taxi listing for lofi hiphop. They later sent me briefs on a somwhat regualr basis, and one of them was for a sonic branding for a major European company (eMAG, the Romanian equivalent to Amazon) my submission was chosen for the companies branding and now I'm getting almost 5 figures a year from a 2 second piece of music. Which has Wayyyyy exceeded my costs for Taxi submissions and yearly membership (even with over 500 submissions).
It's all about getting your foot in the door by keeping at it.
I truly hope this helps inspire you and others that get frustrated from time to time (again, as we all do, still do, even with some small amount of success) it's not an easy business to be part of, but it can be very rewarding. Hope you stick it out!

Hi Erik, many thanks for your honest and heartfelt response. I also think Im having a problem writing music in styles Im not comfortable or necessarily familiar enough with. I think the challenge of it is good thing but when I get frustrated or bored I end up feeling like Im doomed to fail because Im not composing from the heart with sincerity. Perhaps I need to spend more time choosing briefs and then make sure I really do my homework to understand said style/genre. It also doesnt help that I’m basically unemployed since April 2024.

Im going to figure this out!

I've personally done just that, stopped trying to learn new styles/genres I'm not too familiar with and focus on the briefs that I know I can crank out a track in a week or less. Nothing wrong with learning new styles, but for me it got to a point where I wanted to submit to like 3 different briefs and I don't have the time/experience to efficiently get them done in time.
One library I reached out to is interested in 5x tracks I already made of a similar style so we'll see if it pays off. I suggest keep making music that you enjoy making from the heart, and wait for the right briefs to come around. I took a quick look at your catalog and from being subscribed to taxi for maybe 5 months, there have been multiple briefs that come around that fit what you have in your catalog.

I love this track that got forwarded by the way, super chill vibes, nice work!

Hi Erik, thanks for your kind words regarding the track.

Im definitely going to keep making authentic music fromtge heart because every time I don't do that I fail.

Best of luck with the library you hooked up with!
