I'm New - Where Am I At? :)
Hi folks - I just joined Taxi and the forums so forgive me if I'm being basic etc...
A lot of the listings are saying "Radio Ready" or "Broadcast Ready" and I am not quite sure what that means. I suppose it depends on genre. I would love it if you could listen to one of my latest tracks and let me know if my production skills are in the right ballpark and if I could be specifically improving anything. I think the correct genre for this track would be alt-pop. Would you agree?
"We Gonna Gonna"
Thanks,
Jesse

Hey Jesse - Welcome aboard. For this track I'm almost getting a children's song vibe, it's playful and lighthearted and I can't really picture hearing it on a contemporary alt pop playlist. I imagine this is an existing track, not produced for a listing? Most the vets will tell you to create tracks according to whatever brief you're working on, find a listing that is looking for a genre that you feel like you can do authentically and have a go.
Good luck!

Thanks for the listen, EO.
Much appreciated. Yes, you are correct. I am part of a song writing work group and this was a song I wrote for that project separate from a specific listing. I have just started writing for specific listings. I guess I was more interested in knowing if the production skills on display in this track are on par with what is expected professionally. I don't necessarily trust my own ears.
I suppose the idea is to listen to the reference track and use that as a production / mix template for what I will be submitting.
Thanks for helping a newbie out!
Be well,
Jesse

Hey Jesse,
Welcome to the forum. It's a good place to be.
Yes, I think your production quality is in the ballpark of "Broadcast Quality".
Keep going!
