5 for 8 this week so far after an 0-11 debacle!

Post by BradleyHagen » Wed May 14, 2025 8:26 am

After getting shellacked by the screeners, and going an unheard of 0-11 on a Funk instrumental brief 2 weeks ago, I submitted 7 tracks to a Southern Rock instrumental brief, and get 4 forwards. Also, I submitted ONE Yacht Rock track with vocals to another brief, and received a forward! "Write, Submit, Forget, Repeat"... - Casey Hurowitz...Yep! that is the name of the game! And most importantly.......Don't let a bad streak get you down....ever!!

Here is the pertinent info for those who care.....

LISTING:
Lots of SOUTHERN ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES (in a wide range of styles) are needed by a very active EXCLUSIVE Music Licensing Company that loves working with TAXI members! They have a huge international reach, and they're constantly landing lots of great placements in TV shows around the world!

This Library is on the hunt for Instrumental Cues that could be found on a playlist with these references:

WARNING: The references may include graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

"Save My Soul" by Jive Mother Mary

"Frogman" by Whiskey Myers

"Enter the Riffian" by Wo Fat

Although the references have vocals, please submit INSTRUMENTAL CUES only for this opportunity! (No vocals, vocal chants, shouts, etc.)

Please submit well-crafted Southern Rock Instrumental Cues with lots of gritty, down-home, southern-fried sounds and motifs! This company is searching for a wide range of tracks, from the more rootsy, vintage-inspired sounds to edgier, modern Southern Rock vibes. Engaging rhythms, great guitar work, lots of energy, and dynamic arrangements with lots of forward development are all needed here. Instrumentation and production in the general stylistic ballpark of the references and other similar Songs will work best. Please make sure that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality, very realistic-sounding, and genre-appropriate.

All submissions should clock in around 2 minutes, give or take. Non-Faded, Button/Stinger endings will work best for this request. Don't submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

NOTE: This Client will need your Instrumental Cues' stems, but not yet! All you need to submit for now are the Full Instrumental Cues, but please be ready to send them over at a moment’s notice if you get a call or email from the Company.

IMPORTANT: Don't submit material with ANY third-party loops, even if they're royalty-free or cleared for commercial usage! There should be ZERO chance that someone else's song pops up if your track gets Shazamed!

TAXI Tip: This Company is interested in working with artists, writers, and composers with previous experience with production music libraries, who will be in it for the long haul, and are willing to do a 10-track album with them. That said, we recommend submitting (at least) 2-3 Songs per submission so they can get a good feel for your material.

AI ALERT: This company doesn't accept or sign music that has been melodically composed using generative AI, nor does it accept backing tracks or full instrumental tracks created with AI.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Instrumental Cues you pitch for this request aren't already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You'll get 100% of the Writer's Share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's Share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity, and you need to be affiliated with a Performing Rights Organization for this company to include your music in their catalog. Please submit as many Instrumental Cues as you'd like, online or per CD. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Saturday, May 10th, 2025. TAXI # S250510SU

1) Lazy Man - has me trying to match it with some lyric ideas I was scribbling yesterday... the title even kinda works.

2) title made me chuckle - with consent. :? :D

3) the song & vocals of Yacht Party sound great.

Good luck with all those getting good placements and reward$$$$

Hey Bradley - I see that the TAXI member site where you've posted those forwarded tracks
had a DOWNLOAD (cloud) option. Do you really WANT others to be able to grab your tracks 'for free'...?
Seems strange to me.

Way to go Bradley, Congrats! Sounds like you really took that previous feedback to heart and made adjustments accordingly. Though I'm glad to hear you didn't lose all that great guitar action and energy in the process!

I've never heard the term yacht rock before joining taxi. I kinda get what it means when I listen to the track but I wouldn't know what to do with it. Same goes to southern rock (genre I've heard before) actually.

"Yacht Rock" is hilarious to me...Just think sipping pink champagne on a large yacht wearing a Captain's hat, with girls running around in bikinis! Think "Smooth" "Easy Listening" "Late 70's Adult Contemporary" Lots of Electric Piano, dry drums, cheesy harmonies.....and Michael McDonald on BG vocals on every track of course :) lol

"Southern Rock" to me anyway, is slide guitar, kinda bluesy, swampy at times, but still rock music. Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, ZZ Top, Blackfoot, etc etc.... I know it pretty well, because I grew up in the Midwest on that stuff, and played it quite a bit in bar bands. Even though I am 30-40 years removed from that geographically, you can't take the White Trash out completely! lol

There are Country artists, and groups like Little Big Town, that have HITS about party boats and all that... Yacht Rock was a term I first saw/read on a TAXI listing.
