INDIE SINGER-SONGWRITER SONG submission

Post by Tunesmith » Sun Jun 15, 2025 7:10 am

Hi All..if anyone has time would love any input. Thank you!
a link to the listing if needed:
https://www.taxi.com/listings?listing=S250617MY

My song
https://s.disco.ac/aftkdyqirteu

I took the style guitar playing from the last reference and incorporated instrumentation from the other two here and there. This originally was just acoustic guitar and longer, so I edited etc for this listing.

INDIE SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS with Male or Female vocals are URGENTLY needed by a Big Time Film and TV Music Publisher for an (up to) $50,000 placement in a MAJOR TV Ad Campaign for a Healthcare Company!

This Publisher would love to find Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references, which we got directly from them:

"Follow The Sun" by Xavier Rudd

"First Day Of My Life" by Bright Eyes

"Home" by Edward Sharp and Magnetic Zeros

QUOTING THE PUBLISHER: "We're urgently searching for songs that are emotionally driven, and naturally feel GOOD. These songs should give the listener a feeling of warmth, safety and security."

Please submit original, feel-good Indie Singer-Songwriter Songs that feature warm, organic instrumentation, heartfelt vocals, and emotionally resonant lyrics. This Publisher is on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo (but not too fast, use the references to get a feel for tempo) Songs that evoke connection, introspection, and joy, and bring an intimate, human touch. Think about Songs you'd want to listen to during campfire moments, early morning light, or a slow drive down a quiet road. Give listeners a musical "hug." Instrumentation common to the style could include acoustic guitars, gentle percussion, tasteful harmonies, handclaps, etc. Production techniques should feel natural and organic, while still maintaining commercial appeal. Male or Female vocals with warmth and character are needed. If you're using virtual instruments or samples, be sure they are high-quality and genre-appropriate. Original Songs only, please!

My song
2 cents from a lurker - only about the track (not the listing specs);
1) initially like the vibe; noticed the 'hang time/suspended' at the end of Verse 1 "...lying down"
struck me as a good set-up going into the Chorus.
2) at the 1:09 mark - the percussion/quantized (?) thing goes wonky - so much so that it was difficult to focus on the rest;
particularly the lyrics.

For my ears: would like to hear the song WITHOUT the harmonica/accordion - whatever that 'pad' instrument is;
and without the percussion part. Strip it down - less is more.
Hope that helps. Others more experienced with this genre might chime in.
Your mileage may vary.

Cheers,
Peter

I think it's a cool tune but I agree with Peter, I'd like to hear it more stripped down like a traditional folk song. From the top I found the main guitar panned left with the delay panned right to be too ambient sounding for the vibe of the song and the percussion is not quite grooving. I could hear it going in a Malvina Reynolds "Little Boxes" direction. The part that sounds tight and caught my ear the most was the very end where the guitar and bass are playing the same line with the whistle over top, I'd milk that!

Regardless, dig the tune, well done.
