Respond to critique

Hello all. I suspect not, but is there any way to respond to a critique of a submission?

If you mean to the screener he answer is NO but you can always send a request for the head screener to respond to your feedback or return if you don't agree with the screeners feedback/decision.

As this is the Forwards section of the forums, is it a forward that you wish to respond to? Members often do that (usually a thank you) in the Screener Shoutout section of the forums.

Or, do you want to respond to a paid-for critique? That should easily be possible as part of the process.

However, (and please forgive me if I'm wrong) my guess is that you wish to respond to a submission return. As said above, yes you can contact the Head Screener if you are SURE that a mistake has been made with a return, or you cannot understand most of what has been said. Please don't take this generalisation personally, but it is very common for new members to disagree or be offended by a return, or to not understand some of the reasoning. Remember that the screeners' job is to FIND submissions that meet all of the listing criteria, and not to dismiss music for no valid reason. According to all the comments I've seen here it is very rare indeed for the Head Screener to overturn an outcome, and quite common for the composer to agree with that decision once they understand and can accept the reasoning.

Therefore, before making that contact, perhaps its worth listening again to your submission in the middle of listening to all the reference tracks provided and considering whether it would fit on the same playlist, and also considering whether it meets all the listing criteria. If it doesn't satisfy all those conditions then realistically it will be a return, regardless of the wording accompanying the return.

Alternatively, you could post the listing with the ref track links, your submitted track, and also your 'return' comments. People here will listen and tell you in a helpful manner what they think, and whether or not they agree with the screener's comments and verdict. I would suggest posting in the Peer To Peer section.

[Further suggestions on posting --- please make sure your track is made public, that your link to it works even when you're logged out of your account (otherwise we get nothing but a 404 Error), and that you copy/paste the full listing with working links to the ref tracks (rather than try to link to a listing because they get removed once they expire, and most attempts at linking take us to the top of ALL the listings). Similarly, its probably easiest to copy/paste your return wording rather than link to it. Sorry of all this sounds a bit prescriptive, but every week someone posts a dead link, so I'm just trying to help you shortcut the same problems that we see over and over again.]

Do you want to respond to a 'forward' - this is the Forwards section of the forums? Or, do you want to respond to a paid-for critique? That should easily be possible.

However, (and please forgive me if I'm wrong) my guess is that you wish to respond to a standard listing return. As said above, yes you can contact the Head Screener if you are SURE that a mistake has been made with a return, or you cannot understand most of what has been said. Please don't take this generalisation personally, but it is very common for new members to disagree or even be offended by a return, or to not understand some of the terminology or reasoning. According to all the comments I've seen here it is very rare indeed for the Head Screener to overturn an outcome, and quite common for the composer to agree with that decision once the reasoning is made clear to them.

Not really , but post everything in Peer to Peer as Graham suggests and you might get some extra useful feedback
