One for Seven on Southern Rock Brief

Post by BradleyHagen » Wed Jul 09, 2025 7:18 am

Hey All! Hope everyone is enjoying their Summer! Well, I got ONE forward anyway..... These tracks have been forwarded over and over and over again, but nothing has ever been placed, so I keep at it! I also have this exact same bunch of Southern Rock stuff in other non-exclusive libraries as well..... Screener #457 is very fair, and provides great feedback, but man........ Tough nut to crack to be sure! To be fair, every single one of these tracks were catalog pulls, and I did not even bother to listen to the references, so it was a "Hail Mary pass" to begin with lol Anyhoo...

S250707MA
Genre: Rock, Americana, Instrumental

Closes At: Jul 7, 2025 11:59PM PDT

AMERICANA/SOUTHERN ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a very active, hard-plugging Music Library with a direct relationship with a music supervisor who's asking for music for a particular TV series.

IMPORTANT: This Company is also running a Listing that asks for AMERICANA/SOUTHERN ROCK SONGS with VOCALS (TAXI # S250705MA), so please don't confuse the two. This listing (that you're reading right now) is for INSTRUMENTAL CUES only.

Golden Opportunity: This Library is still relatively new to requesting music from TAXI, making this a great opportunity to build a new relationship with a company that doesn't have many TAXI members in their catalog yet.

This Company is on the hunt for Instrumental Cues in a wide range of styles, and in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

"Sink Hole" by Drive-By Truckers

"Joy" by Lucinda Williams

"I Got Your Country Right Here" by Gretchen Wilson

"Sunshine" by Ryan Bingham

Although the references have vocals, please submit ORIGINAL INSTRUMENTAL CUES ONLY.

Please submit well-crafted Americana/Southern Rock Instrumental Cues with grit, rugged charm, and plenty of twang! Your submissions should feature memorable motifs, compelling melodies, toe-tapping rhythms, and dynamic arrangements that build and evolve as the track moves forward. Instrumentation in the general vein of the references and similar Americana/Southern Rock pieces will work best (think electric and acoustic guitars, dobro, slide, mandolin, bass, drums, and other rootsy, organic elements). Your Instrumental Cues can range from Mid-to-Up-Tempo grooves to more stripped-down, Down-Tempo pieces. Whichever approach you take, be sure your recordings sound professionally produced and in line with what's typical for this genre. Any virtual instruments or samples used should be high-quality, realistic, and a natural fit for the genre. Original Compositions only, please!

Your submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take. This client is a stickler for clean endings, so your Cues must have button/stinger endings, or resolved/sustained ending that sound like they could end a scene! Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ Songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

AI ALERT: This company can't accept or sign music that has been lyrically or melodically composed using generative AI, nor will they accept backing tracks or full instrumental tracks created with AI.

The Licensing Company offers a 3-Year EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with other Libraries or Catalogs (including CD Baby, Tunecore, YouTube, etc.). Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You’ll get 100% of the Writer's share, and they'll get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity, and you need to be affiliated with a Performing Rights Organization. Please submit as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Monday, July 7th, 2025. TAXI # S250707MA

Excellent Bradley! Don't forget to tell them you have another 6 ready to go and they'll probably be willing to listen.
Good luck for getting a batch signed up. :)
Like it is, and 100% HI

Awesome, well done. Your hard work is starting to pay off.

Ironically they will likely take al lthe ones you had returned , and one of those returns will go on to do better than the track that was forwarded !

Mark- When do you think it is appropriate to say "Oh BTW, I have 6 other Southern Rock tracks available?" I did this for another library recenelty, even set up a dedicated folder for them to check out the tracks, and there were "crickets" - I don't want to come across as pushy either....Your thoughts?

Yewww!
Well done, mate!
I reckon the one the screener chose is the strongest, but the others have heaps of potential too—just need a few tweaks here and there.
Congrats!

Yes absoloutely, most libraries want more than one track - I'd put it in the reply
