Nothing wrong with doing production library music full time in retirement. However, a HUGE dose of reality is needed. Those who make even 5 figures, let alone 6, have spent 5-10 years getting to that point. You need to generate hundreds of tracks in demand for sync per year and build up a critical mass of thousands in libraries working for you. It's a slow moving business. Even under good circumstances, the time from getting a track in a library to placement (if that track gets placed at all) can be months or quite a few years. You need to be continually feeding the pipeline.

Do you have the discipline to work at it 10-12 hours a day? Do you have the skills (or can quickly acquire the skills) to crank out tracks that are consistently at that "in demand" level? Can you live without income for years while you build this up? Do you currently have tracks in good libraries and relationships from them? How much income would you need to generate to supplement retirement funds, social security, etc.?

Take a good inventory of your current skill set, successes, financial situation, history with Taxi forwards (they tell you a lot as far as "in demand" tracks), and perseverance.

People HAVE done it. Just go into it with a realistic view of your needs and what you can achieve.

Best of luck!
