Newbie question -- Exclusive Deals

Post by TonyPerryMusic » Wed Jul 16, 2025 10:59 pm

Hi! I'm new here and apologize up front if this has been addressed somewhere else:

I released several albums back in the day (yup!) and they were distributed by The Orchard (before their digital publishing deal) and subsequently were released by The Orchard for streaming services and digital downloads. I assume I cannot submit any of those songs because they already exist in a monetized form. Is that correct?

Does this prevent me from re-recording them in a more modern way and submitting that? Would I effectively be doing a cover song of my own song?

In a similar quandary, I released a song (again through The Orchard) and then did just that: re-recorded the song with a new arrangement, new bpm, new tone, new genre, the works. Is that new version treated like a new song when submitting?

Thanks!
