Hi folks,
After a good run of four consecutive forwards in different styles in collaboration with Kat W, (Yewww!), We’ve just received a return and would really appreciate some advice on it.

EPIC CINEMATIC ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Top Music Licensing Company with a head-spinning number of placements in Film, TV, Video Games, and National TV Commercials!
This Company needs to find Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:
"Battle Cry" by Imagine Dragons
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgB2qIt ... gons-Topic
"Dead Man Walking" by WARHALL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh0jmIU ... l=WarRobot
"Legendary" by Welshly Arms
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2CZn96 ... lyArmsVEVO
Please submit massive-sounding, Epic Rock Songs that are tailor-made for trailers, promos, and blockbuster movie scenes! Your submissions should have memorable melodies, in-your-face motifs, anthemic hooks, modern-sounding production, dynamic arrangements, well-crafted lyrics, and lots of edgy Rock attitude. Epic Rock-style instrumentation in the general wheelhouse of the references will work best for this opportunity. Songs that mix raw Rock energy with theatrical flair (think chant-style vocals, orchestral flourishes, dramatic strings, percussive drops, etc.) are just what this Company's searching for! Larger-than-life Vocal deliveries (Male or Female) could be the cherry on top that makes this powerhouse company want to sign you. Original Songs only, please.

I understand that the chorus was performed differently from the references, but I’m confused by the comment about "turning up the energy and emotion of the track and vocal."
The singer is giving it her all in the chorus — she’s really pushing vocally — and the instrumental is also more intense, with stronger drums, guitars, and orchestral elements.
I’m not quite sure what more was expected in terms of energy. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Re: Return EPIC CINEMATIC ROCK SONGS
Hey Guys
Cool track, well done.
It feels like a good replacement track for Evanescence and that's not a bad thing at all! Don't sweat that it didn't meet the requirements of the listing. It might not be epic and massive enough here when compared to the references.
I'm on laptop speakers, grain of salt. The vocal is good but she may be straining a bit too much to get there and if you have a vocalist that could pull off Amy Lee even better, you'd really have a perfect Evanescence replacement.
What to do with good tracks that get returned because they just don't meet the bar of the listing? Seek out libraries and see what bites you get. And keep submitting.
PS If you read the listing again, you'll see this one is VERY high bar.

Re: Return EPIC CINEMATIC ROCK SONGS
Hi, great song that I'm sure will get picked up sooner or later. For this listing though maybe its not the right fit. The ref tracks all cook along at one level then burst into something much bigger, and I think that contract is probably what the screener meant, because Demolition builds gradually into the chorus (apart form the last one) so the impact is not as great, despite the soaring vocal. From the listing I wonder whether the screener would have liked some more risk taking and theatrical in the vocal delivery. Just my thoughts though.
Like it is, and 100% HI

Hey Casey, yes — the song was inspired by Evanescence’s 'My Immortal'. I could totally hear Amy Lee singing it — she'd absolutely crush it!Casey H wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 5:29 amHey Guys

I think you're right — the contrast between verse and chorus in the references is much more pronounced. In this song, there's a pre-chorus that builds up the energy before the chorus, so even though the chorus is full-on, it doesn't hit with the same impact.
Nothing wrong with that but maybe is not what they are looking for.
Thanks!
