Can someone please give me their opinion on this confusing return?

Post by senmusic » Sun Aug 03, 2025 2:40 pm

Hello friends.
I just received a return for the following opportunity:

Lots of CUMBIA INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a NON-EXCLUSIVE Music Library with a strong history of sync placements. They're expanding their catalog, so now could be a great time to get your music on their radar!

This Company is searching for Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:

"Popurri Peruano" by Chicago 5

"Guepa Jé (Instrumental)" by Los Diplomaticos

"Cumbia Con Arpa" by Hugo Blanco

Please submit original, traditional-sounding Cumbia Instrumentals that capture the infectious grooves and festive spirit of the genre! This Company is on the hunt for Instrumentals that capture the rhythm, warmth, and cultural flavor of Latin Cumbia music, transporting listeners to a bustling street festival in coastal Colombia or a lively dance floor in Monterrey. Your submissions should feature danceable rhythms, lively and authentic-sounding melodies, great musicianship, and arrangements with forward development. Including traditional instrumentation like the accordion, guacharaca, congas, bongos, bass guitar, guitar, and brass would be a great way to add some extra authenticity to your compositions! Please make sure that any virtual instruments or samples used are high-quality, realistic, and not dated-sounding.

Your submissions should be about 2 to 3 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings are needed for this pitch. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

IMPORTANT: If this client loves what they hear, they could contact you to create full albums of this genre because they're searching for talented producers with whom they can develop ongoing relationships, going beyond just one specific Composition. If you want to submit more than one Instrumental, that might help convince them that you're just who they're searching for!

AI ALERT: This company can't accept or sign music that has been melodically composed using generative AI, nor will they accept backing tracks or full instrumental tracks created with AI.

This Company offers a NON-Exclusive, 50/50 deal. You’ll get 50% of any applicable sync fees and 100% of the Writer’s share. The Publisher will get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity, and you need to be affiliated with a Performing Rights Organization for this company to include your music in their catalog. Please send as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Saturday, July 26th, 2025. TAXI # S250726CU

TAXI # S250726CU

And I received this Feedback :

"What I like most about this song
The arrangement showcases excellent musicianship and forward development fitting the genre."

I think you could improve this song by
"This is sounding great as is!"

I returned or forwarded this song because
"The track is suitable for the listing request."

But It was returned.

As you can see, and as far as I understand, all the ratings are suitable for a forward, but my track was rejected.
Is this a screener error, or am I missing something in my assessment? Can anyone from you or from Taxi screener 452, please give me your feedback?
Thank you.

It's most likely just an error whereby the screener intended to forward but then checked the return box-- just a mistake. Contact Taxi and check with them. Call them at the number at the top of this page (if you are in the US) or email to headscreener AT taxi dot com.

Good luck!
:D Casey

This exact thing happened to me a while back on a tension cue. I contacted the head screener and while it was too late to get it forwarded to the client, he did refund my submission fee and also sent me a detailed review of how I could make my cue even better. I've made revisions based on his review and have gotten it forwarded on another listing. Obviously, Cumbia has a lot less listings and a lot less submissions than tension so you may have a shot at getting it forwarded, but time is of the essence, so if you haven't contacted the head screener yet, do so ASAP. Best of luck to you!
