Mistake in Indie Rock listing S250817EC?

Post by Phuovine » Fri Aug 01, 2025 4:13 am

I remember that the Wet Leg track "CPR" was a refe in a previous indie rock listing and it's here again in this listing but it has nothing to do with the other ref tracks which are much more mellow and meandering. Could it be a mistake? The other three tracks make sense together but the quirky and upbeat "CPR" totally doesn't. I'd like to submit to this listing but I don't quite know which direction to take. Also, the line "Please submit original Indie Rock Instrumental Cues that blend raw energy with melodic sensibility and evoke the spirit of modern Indie Rock music!" applies to the Wet Leg track but not that much to the other three which makes it even more baffling! What do you think?

A whole bunch of INDIE ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a super-busy, highly effective, EXCLUSIVE Music Licensing Company with an enviable track record of landing killer placements in TV, Film, and Advertising for TAXI members!

This Library is on the hunt for Instrumental Cues that could be found on a playlist with these references:

"Machine Starts To Sing" by Porridge Radio

"Rest" by The Ember Days

"CPR" by Wet Leg

"Hungry Face" by Mogwai

Please submit original Indie Rock Instrumental Cues that blend raw energy with melodic sensibility and evoke the spirit of modern Indie Rock music! Your Compositions should include captivating motifs, engaging rhythms, excellent musicianship, and dynamic arrangements with tons of forward motion. Instrumentation in the general stylistic ballpark of the references and other Indie Rock pieces like them should work best (think electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, synthesizer, and possibly piano or other textural layers, like subtle percussion or ambient guitar effects). If you’re using virtual instruments or samples, they must be high-quality and feel modern, expressive, and authentic. Original Compositions only, please!

Think you are right!
The Wet Leg track is the only one that fits "indie rock" especially considering listing words like "raw energy".
The other tracks are all "post rock" and pretty chill.

Most likely a mistake

Or could be an implicit expectation by whoever is running the listing.
e.g. Do something Mogwai like but with raw energy "indie rock" like Wet Leg.
but it seems way simpler to just explain that in the listing explicitly

Hi mate, I know the deadline is gone, but I thought the same when I listened to the references. Wet Leg track i's totally different from the others. So I wouldn't go to that direction, as it's 3 against one.
I had a similar situation in a old listing when there was a different reference and a follow the different one and in the feedback screener advise to follow the other examples...

Yeah, I just couldn't bother to write for that listing because of the confusion and I was more into the Wet Leg style anyway. Not that I don't also love the more nuanced and atmospheric indie rock but oh well.

It's happening again:
Lots of RETRO SYNTHWAVE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a highly successful Music Licensing company with an impressive track record of sync placements in hit TV shows!

This Company is on the hunt for Instrumentals that could fit on a playlist with the following examples:

"Droid Rage" by OGRE Sound

"Stranger Things" by Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein

"Wave" by iamMANOLIS
Reference 1 and 3 are similar. Stranger Things is the outlier here.

Going to follow WSAO's advice.
