I remember my in-law saying to my wife (when I was at my breaking point) "Why is Ern continuing to chase this dream?"My wife answered "Dreams Evolve."And so they have. I had a dream of being a rock recording artist, or at the very least a songwriter that made lots of $$.But about 15 years ago, I decided I had had enough of the L.A. music biz rat race, and moved my studio into the mountains for 5 months. It rejuvinated my muse, and I realized that my REAL destiny was to write music for symphonic orchestra.LISTEN to your muse! It worked for me --- that's all you can do, but do it as well as you possibly can.Ern

I have a problem thinking long-term, but if all goes according to plan, in five years I will be able to have that mindset... doh!Seriously though, thinking long-term is so difficult for me and has been in all aspects of my life. I've always been the get interested, burn myself out, move to something else guy. But with music (possibly due to age) I see this slowly changing. I think there may just be hope But I, along with most people ( I think ) really have to work to remain focused. I can't just take it for granted that I'll stay on track. It takes so much effort, and probably always will. -dave

There's hope. You made it all the way through a post and stayed on the same topic - much better than I usually can do!

I just remind myself that, "The destination will be lame if you didn't enjoy the journey".
