Please help me! :O

Post by astroninja » Tue Jul 08, 2008 4:32 am

Hello guys!I'd like to seek the more expert help of other readers in this forum here as I'm quite clueless and I hope somebody here can guide me with the right steps to take to ensure the following happens I'd greatly appreciate any help! 1. How do I ensure that when a buyer buys my indie album, that when he (or she!) puts it into his (or her!) computer, the appropriate album cover art pops up in his player, with the BUY button next to it, and when he rips it into MP3 format, it is saved nicely with a named folder rather than 'UNKNOWN ALBUM #2412412' ?2. Also, what is the significance of that tiny number at the back of a CD in the inner rim? Is it used to track the info for question 1)? And how do I go about obtaining the right number for it?Thanks for all the help!

Astro.... for iTunes, makes sure you plug in all the right info in the GET INFO section before you upload... it should automatically keep that info with your tunes... not sure about WMP though.Hope that helps!

You'll also want to input the info at Gracenote CD Database, not up to speed there, myself; one of the fans uploaded info on my last record.

In iTunes, you put your CD in the computer, type in all the information you want and then select them all and in the "Advanced" menu you select "Submit CD track names". This submits it to the CDDB server. I don't know about the cover art, whether it goes up as well but you can add it to your local iTunes library pretty easily.Hope this helps,Mazz

If you're selling downloads, you'll want to include the info in each track's metadata; the LAME MP3 encoder allows more control than iTunes over this. You may also be able to embed or provide links to thumbnails or artwork in the metadata and/or comments box; some CD burner programs have a comments field as well. I need more info on this, too. I'll post if I find good intel.
