Quote:Quote:Ms Bird has already offered you two perfectly good reasons why people wouldn't want their music listened to.How many more do you want?I thought that Ms Bird was talking about something that has already happened on taxi. I know we need to be careful with our music (concerning to copyright) but I was just asking because I’m a newbie and sometimes I need a few more details to understand some of the things you guys talk about. So it doesn’t matter how silly you think the tip you want to give me is, it would help me. Thanks. If you hang around here E, you will find that JD doesn't mince words. You stood up for yourself, good for you. Yes, you have the right to ask questions, and we all do our best to answer them if we can.In terms of listening to submissions - this can only be done if the writer wishes to share their work with you. For all the reasons stated. When you upload your music to your Taxi host site, you have the choice whether to make that music public or not. You have the choice whether to post a link to your music here on the forum asking for feedback or to share what you have submitted. You have the choice to post here in the Forwarded section if you'd like to share the music you had forwarded. Seems to me this covers the bases. You choose whether to share your work. I can't ask that of you. I don't have the right to ask that other members share their work with me. Many do, right here on this forum. But that is their choice.H

Re: Suggestion to improve Taxi?
Sorry If I sounded 'on the attack', I wasn't. I love Taxi and I've been a member for a long time and owe all of my industry success to date to them. Maybe I should have said "accepted your money". You do get a notification that that has happened. I was not aware that lyrics were automatically attached, if there are lyrics, and go along with the submission. Thanks for educating me.I guess I'm one of the few who prepares lead sheets for all my tunes. I plan to one day publish a book of all my tunes. (You're so vain!) Since I also perform many of my original compositions live in public with my jazz groups, I need lead sheets. I have to have concert key copies for the bass player and keyboard player. I also need Bb charts for Bb instruments and Eb charts for the Eb instrumentsI guess I make up a very small moniority of one though who actually does that. I've been using lead sheets since 1980, probably before some of you were even born. It's just a thing I do.When I play out live and put my groups together, I have one question my sidemen must all answer correctly to get the gig: "Can you read?" I can't afford to put a chart in front of someone at a gig and then have them freeze in front of it because they can't read it or play it.I get it though. I like the comment about the cart before the horse. That makes sense. I was not aware however that so many "industry" folks are not interested in lead sheets. Where have all the real musicians gone? That's also not an attack, just a tongue in cheek way of saying my how the times have changed!
