20th Cent...Yes, it was Stephen Stills. The story I hear is that he suggested Peter Tork who had good teeth.HOWEVER, you didn't answer in the form of a question!!!The judges must decide.. Hmmm... They are leaving it up to audience vote... What you think out there? CaseyP.S. Roger McGuinn also tried out and didn't make it. The Byrds song, "So You Wanna Be a Rock 'n Roll Star" is based on the Monkees thing.

"Overnight Sensation" is such a great album. And he was a vastly underrated guitarist. I saw him at his peak, and his solos were just jaw-dropping. Ern

I saw Zappa conduct one of his compositions for orchestra and giant puppets. He wore a tuxedo, quite the illustrious conductor. I agree that his guitar playing, like his compositions, have been underated. I think his goofy irreverence made serious reviewers unable to appreciate his musical ideas.

I really need to check out his later pieces.Ern

zappa was so amazing. i was lucky enough to see him a few times, including a great show at the armadillo world headquarters in austin, texas, where zappa recorded the album 'bongo fury' with captain beefheart.one of the shows i saw featured steve vai on guitar. zappa could even keep up with vai on lead guitar. he really was under rated.....ok, jeopardy-- 70s-this song was written and performed on stage by frank zappa and john lennon.
