Not perfect or anything special by any means and its the first time ive sung in a week, but it will show you all that I at least have a voice http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... austinWell Austin, you certainly proved me wrong!!!Theirs the voice in all it's glory. Also you picked one of my favorite Motown tracks so I think your choice of material is excellent.I won't comment on the vocal because I don't think that would be helpful.Best of luck in your in your work.JI forgot to say,I love the glottal stop technique. How do you do that?

Glottal shock is a stylized thing that I utilize, yes your giving me a hard time, no I don't care Too much is not a good thing obviously, but used sparingly its ok and adds a cool effect (and is used quite a bit by everyone in the pop genre). I probably did it a bit too much since like I said i'm still not feeling up to par by any means, but what can you do.

Offered several compliments, Asked how to achieve a vocal technique ( I knew what it was I asked how you do it!)and you think I.m giving you a hard time. You asked what I do.I think that's a fair question but easiest answered in the negative.I don't teach singing!!!!!

Well glottal shock is perceived to be a bad thing, and it is in excess, so I figure your pointing that out to be negative. If your being serious I apologize, if not then thats fine too haha. I just realize this is not a perfect example of vocal technique so im sure it will be torn apart, but at the same time I don't think its a bad example of singing either. And I didn't mean it what can YOU do. I meant given my situation, that was the best recording I could come up with. Not a bad one, but there are some bad vocal habits in it, but nothing damaging.

Again, I realize there are a few pitch issues, and the runs aren't as tight as they could be, but this was just something recorded quickly to prove that I would actually post something. When I get back on track, i'll be able to get back to normal recording wise and get some high quality stuff up for everyone.

Quote:as far as i know Luciano Pavarotti and Stevie Wonder spent time with Seth Riggs ....you might want to go to his site there is a 3 hour master class ...to watch for free....VickyAlso sorry to jump in so late, but I studied operatic singing in college. Learned to "project" well, but little else. Then I heard about Seth Riggs and his "Speech Level Singing" concept. I first bought his CDs of exercises, and improved immensely (I was singing rock at the time, but it applied to any style of singing). Then I began taking lessons from one of his proteges in Hollywood, and learned even more (Seth charged WAY too much $$ for me. ).The essence of the Riggs method is relaxation and proper voice placement in different ranges. The previous things I learned in college about diaphragm, posture, consciously taking breaths etc. causes tension, and essentially were just plain WRONG. These things have been taught for centuries, and have screwed up so many singers it's a sin. Riggs broke the mold, totally rethought how to teach, and I give him a lot of credit for doing that. --- Oh, Seth sings on his exercise CDs and can't sing for shit. Go figure --- Ern

I removed the song; it served its purpose, so i'm done with it. I'll have actual songs up in the next few weeks though (hopefully in time for some listings) so i'll post when those are done.I love Seth Riggs' methods, and I use a lot of the same stuff he does, such as the lip trills, for my own teaching. His voice is trashed from untreated acid reflux I believe, although I think someone said he recently did a version of Nessun Dorma that is pretty impressive.Being a vocal coach is an important thing. I find myself producing singers that have amazing technique and usually outshine me unless im at the top of my game, which is a good thing in a way, and when i'm teaching im always at the top of my game because I really have to be. There are several teachers that i've heard who are absolutely horrible, but produce some amazing students, so I never judge someone by that. So it was good of Andre to point that out to cover for me However, I still stand by the clip as being a good clip; just not technically perfect of course.

The clip is a moot point, really, as you say. And it's certainly not fair to 'judge' a voice from a recording made when the voice is not well - in fact, you shouldn't be singing at all if it's still affecting your voice.I agree, someone could be an awesome singer but a not-so-great teacher, and I guess vice versea too.

Don't forget those of us with less than awesome pipes and who couldn't teach singing either!
