Quote:well hey, im certified on like.....7 DAWS and Im proficient with most of the toys, so if you ever have any questions, shoot me a lineMilfus, thanks for that open invite. I just might take you up on it. I’d love to hear some of the other productions you’ve worked on some day...Quote:Raags,I'm confident that you'll catch on pretty quickly to this. You have one of the main qualities that it takes to do it: You want to!!Since you've already worked on productions doing acoustic recording and mixing and arranging, you have a lot of skills that are directly transferrable to working in the virtual world. One thing I think it's important to remember is that the music should drive the gear, not the other way around. While a cool loop or synth patch can inspire a piece, it's really what one does with those sounds in a MUSICAL context that counts. Learning keystrokes and technical tricks and tips should always be in service to your musical vision.…. if you learn the libraries and how to wrangle them with MIDI, you can play pretty much any instrument on the planet. You have what it takes, you're just adding more chops to your musical palette.Enjoy!!MazzThis is so encouraging… especially the part that if I learn the libraries and how to use MIDI stuff, I could do so much more than what I’m presently doing—though don’t get me wrong, I WILL miss having all these musicians in my studio for acoustic recordings, but I absolutely look forward to zipping out some songs with a quicker turn-around time. Some new chops indeed! Thanks for your post, Mazz, I’m so glad I had a chance to connect with you at the Rally this year. Quote:Raags,I am certain you have the smarts and the drive to take yourself anywhere you want to go. And this sounds like a VERY cool place to be. Just keep chanting to yourself, "I am a sponge...I am a sponge...I am a sponge," and SOAK IT UP, baby. TedOMG that is too funny!! “I am a sponge.” FOMBL!!! (Fell on my butt laughing!!) I’ve done chanting for years, so that will fit right into my learning paradigm. Yeah, I can hardly believe how cool this place is. I’m just so grateful. Quote:Go for it, dude!! Production is fun, fun, fun!! Whee! And matto's right....it ain't how many you can't play, it's what you do with the ones you can. Learn the right programs and it's like bein' an expert in all that stuff. Take it from someone who bothered to learn all the band instruments and now watches people blow by her every 10 minutes! Yeah, production IS fun, squids! (And I think you mean Mazz? I realize these senior production wizards among us really morph through the One Mind, and draw upon the Great Spirit…) Yeah, these are the days to live for music production, eh? Thank goodness for all the great programs and tools that we have at our fingertips these days! You guys all ROCK. Seriously, I’m so inspired I could pop. I can’t wait to go back to the studio after the holidays! Raags

haha, yeah sorry for the black out on my songs and stuff, my work history right now is kind of complicated and unconventional, the short story is, I was kind of a secret weapon engineer for a very high profile guy, but officially I was "assisting." That arrangement is gone now though, its a kind of painful story and I think it would hurt me more to tell it than you guys honestly care to hear it, but thats why I have no material on hand, I am working on productions for bids as we speak though so few weeks and I will have the seeds of a catalog growing.
