Hi Jamkern,I can only echo the sentiments that the others posted and especially the post that Matt made.I certainly wish I was in your position, frustrated about the 15% that TAXI gets me and making my living directly from what I love to do.I hate to say this but you will get little sympathy from a good deal of the folks on this forum who dream of being in your position.I'm sure you didn't get to where you are by dilly-dallying and worrying about how many forwards you got this month. So I will channel my inner Steve-ness and just say WOULD YOU LIKE SOME CHEESE WITH THAT WHINE!! Seriously dude, continued success and keep doing what got you to where you are. Don't sweat what you can't control.Best,Cisco

Thanks guy--seriously...I'll quit the bitchin and get back to writing a smokin piece of bazouki-tronica that might help with the electric bill!

JAMI really appreciate what you shared in your post. For someone like me who has only been in Taxi for a little over two years, and 0 forwards, you comments validate rather than repudiate my own circumstances. I thought I'd share that observation for forum folks like me. I run a full time CPA practice for a 'living', not music. My library of recordings is up to about 100, but since joining Taxi and having critiques, and looking at the quality of the writing and engineering and production, I have maybe 15 tracks that I consider shop-able and submittable. The rest I know have weaknesses peppered in them that would get them rejected no matter where I shop them. And the reason for that (not to rationalize), is that I know I am not spending enough time in the studio and when I do I am accepting tracks as 'good enough' because of time pressure to finish it and get it out there. Seems to be the dilemma for a lot of us how work a dayjob and can only do this part time. But I would guess from what I've read in the forum, Matto and Dave at one time were in the same position. So I want to congratulate you and say I am envious of your success. You get to spend the time in the studio creating and its producing. From a business standpoint, you are in the right position. We always say its bad for a business to have concentrations of customer revenue flows because it creates cash flow risk if a major source stops producing. You seem to be getting some good eggs from a few different baskets. That is a great position to be in, especially in the music business.AarkJack

My first question back at ya is.... have you talked to Taxi about this? You gotta know Michael would be concerned about your perception of the screening process. My second question is... were you at the Rally? Cause I don't remember meeting you

Hi Arkjack n Hummingbird, I still work a regular job- seasonal part time stuff. Hopefully the music will cover all the bills someday. I do try to spend at least 10-15 minutes a day with a music project open regardless of how busy I am with other stuff. It only takes a minute to stumble across a nifty riff or solve a musical problem.. I might try to talk to Taxi about my screener stuff---- I WISH I was at the Road Rally--99% I'll be there next year.
