Hello all
Hi. My name is Timmer and I'm a new Taxi member as of 11/1/07. I saw a posting recommending that new members introduce themselves so here it is.I've been a live performer for about 25 years and a music teacher for about 20 years. Early this year I made the decision to move into the field of songwriting and after about 10 months of preparation, I'm ready to begin the adventure of attempting to make money with those songs. Here are a few of my favorites:I know what you're thinkinghttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=78764&stream=trueI remember i got youhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=73813&stream=trueThe Streets of Heavenhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=73830&stream=trueI am also a songwriter for Songs of Love http://www.songsoflove.org , a non-profit organization devoted to writing and recording personalized songs for sick and hospitalized children. I write and record approx one song a week for them.So far I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through the forum and listening to everyones music. There are many brilliant and gifted people here and they are very generous with their knowledge. A lot of my questions were answered in those threads. And I must say, this is one of the most positive online environments I have seen. I am very happy to be here and I am looking forward to getting to know many of you.Thank you for your time,Timmer

Re: Hello all
hey, Timmer.Welcome to the forums. Your perceptions of these boards is correct. So much talent here, and there's incredible generosity and support. There are other TAXI members who also write music for songsoflove.com, and you have reason to be very proud of your involvement there.sorry to admit I don't have my ear buds with me right now, but will be eager to hear some of your stuff. Not having heard it yet, I'd be curious what your aims are. TV/film placement? An artist cut? #1 song? Stick around. You will not regret your decision. Ted

Re: Hello all
Hi Ted,I haven't committed myself to a specific goal yet. I have just been submitting to any listings that apply to one of my songs, whether it's t.v./film, artist cut, publishing house, what have you. I am now trying to gear my writing to match the listings but i'm still all over the board with that too.I'm only 5 weeks into this process and i'm sure time will reveal the best plan of attack for me.btw, your songs are beautiful and you have a great voice. Lots of warmth and nice inflection.Timmer

You are a very BRAVE man , but I sure appreciate the kind words. And for what it's worth, you can save yourself a fair amount of mula by asking LOTS of questions about the listings. the number ONE reason that more than 80% of all submissions are returned is because they are wrong for the listing. It's not an exact science, but there ARE ways to improve your odds.these boards are the BEST. don't be shy...Ted
