To all the Taxi country writers

Post by squidlips » Wed Nov 28, 2007 11:43 am

I was talking to a country writer on the phone today (don't wanna say who, don't have permission) and they were kind enough to point out a few things to me regarding country music writers on Taxi. Eye-opening discussion and one I was overdue for.So this is my public apology (and ensuing explanation) for not posting critiques, support, encouragement for all you wonderful country writers on Taxi. I'm sorry! And shame on me! Here's why I don't post critiques.....I admire the tar out of anyone who's writing quality country music these days. It's a helluva tough market. Country is deceptive in its ability to entertain the public with what sounds like easy lyrics and style but it's actually so very hard to accomplish that. While I did sing country in my youth (and mostly anything else that sold), I no longer do so. I don't write it, I don't listen to it a lot (sometimes I do though) and other than having some favorites (mostly old school), I don't know enough about it to feel confident in offering any sort of critique that would make me feel like I'm contributing anything to the discussion that's helpful to you. Please don't feel in any way like I'm not supporting you while you charge the Nashville hill. I'd be thrilled if anyone from Taxi could surmount the closed circle of country and get their songs signed or forwarded. That'd be exciting and absolutely 100 times more thrilling, simply because country's such a tough market. I just don't have any qualifications to be comfortable telling any one of you wonderful folks what could be improved in your craft to help you up the hill. So, this is my sorry explanation and poor man's apology to all y'all. Know I'm in your corner 100 percent and hope for success for all of you. Keep it up and hang in there, I'm pullin' foi ya!Nuttin' but love,Squiddie

Hey Squiddie,That was a very nice thing to do and explain your reluctance to comment on the country writers. I've just started on this forum and always enjoy reading your posts. I don't think anyone here would ever feel slighted in the least as you contribute so much.Warmest regards,Cisco

I agree with Cisco...it's hard to feel slighted by you. In fact, you've given me quite a few critiques even in the 'ole country category. Country music is one of the hardest things to critique....I agree. I wish that I could open the TAXI links properly....that way, I could give more feedback to fellow country writers.I do try to give them when people post their songs on other links.

Squiddie, master of the boards...You are one of the most generous people ON these forums. Your "apology" is not only unnecessary, but also added proof of the heart behind the lips. Ted

Was being silly@you, saying you were "dogging it", meaning slacking/goofing off from your critique duty... It must have been a bad attempt at teasing you... Casey
