Re: What's your day job?
I work in a corporate legal department doing investigations into allegations of unlawful conduct related to Title VII (discrimination, sex harass, etc.), and consult with management on difficult employment-related matters. I do a ton of fact-based writing, it's definitely not creative - but I do think it has helped me in my songwriting life -- working toward being brief without cutting the message short. It's a highly conflict-filled job -- it's a blessing I get to come home every night to a warm home, a wonderful husband, two beautiful children, and songwriting...

Website development, along with a smattering of graphic design, animation etc. Just about to launch another business too. So many hours.. so little to do. No, scratch that, reverse it.
It's a fine line between a thick soup and stew.

Re: What's your day job?
My 'day' job is teaching people who can *not* sing, how to sing, including the tone deaf, terrified, and/or very shy. Through the creative process, I show them how to find and release their natural sound. As they awaken, they discover the things they think, feel & do that get in the way of their voice & causes the symptom of 'tone deafness'. With time, trust & encouragement, they grow from shy, unsure, and pitchy singers into confident, sure and beautiful singers who can carry a tune with ease. Anything is possible if you are willing to do the work.H

Re: What's your day job?
hi folks, though I'm getting closer to switch to full time composer, I'm currently working 2 days/week in an office (I'm the secretary and do the co-management, together with the president - it's a small association, social work).that give me a) the security to pay all my fixed cost and b) the freedom to do whatever I want in music - and I have 5 days/week for my music.while it's also good to get out of the studio for 2 days/week, my goal is to switch to fulltime as a composer/producer - simply because music is what I want to do; no: what I NEED to do cheers, martin

Right now, I'm not working because of physical health issues I've had to deal with, but in the past, I worked as a librarian. (hell, you'd never know it by the way I have to edit my posts) Yeah, I wear glasses! "Marion, madame librarian...."

Re: What's your day job?
Hi. I'm a musician and free-lance composer. I play keyboards for a club date office in NYC. Up until now it's been enough, but my three kids are getting older and more expensive to keep! They can't work just yet, so I just interviewed for a part-time music teaching job at a local private school. I'll know this week if I get the job or not. Charlie

It's been a winding road for me. I suppose that's the same for most all of us!Played in coffeehouses since 1974... http://minnewiki.publicradio.org/index.php/Glenn_GalenI was a city firefighter for the city of Prescott, AZ in 1976-78. I have a journalism degree, and eventually was the editor of a string of weekly newspapers based in Flagstaff, Arizona. Then back to school and earned a masters level degree in computer science and cognitive psychology at the University of Minnesota. Then ran the advanced technology group for a Fortune 500 corporation for nearly 10 years. Then started my own software consulting firm in 1998, and that's what I do now. The daily temptation is to play music in the studio, when I really need to be doing marketing and sales calls so I can keep the money coming in to live on!http://www.IntegritySoftwareCo.comhttp: ... g-sims.com (my other venture)
