For anyone who gets discouraged
For anyone who gets discouraged about their music, this video is so inspiring. Squids e-mailed it to me yesterday. I don't think Jimi will mind me posting it here. It's not an artist's video....just a clip from the show "Britain's Got Talent." If not, my apologies and she can delete the thread. This guy won the talent competition back in June.....just an average guy with a big dream. Now he's sold over a million records.http://www.maniacworld.com/Phone-Salesm ... Crowd.html

That is such a great story. It is so hard to believe that he was a phone salesman but that is very encouraging to know that if you believe in your self and have talent, there is nothing to stop you except yourself. I think the people that had a real tough time with discouragement would have to be the ones who had to compete against him

And it made me want to explore listening to opera more....my mother was a big opera buff. Yeah, it's true.....it's just a question of believing in yourself and not giving up. I liked the expressions on Simon's and the other judge's faces....like they didn't believe 'this mobile phone salesman' could pull it off. Simon even looked pained, like he was waiting for the guy to fall flat on his face....and then the guy just blew them all away......it was just like a scene in a movie.

Thanks for posting that link Chits! Puccini is my all time favorite, you can't stop the tears when his music starts, and this guys voice just rips your heart out... I agree with you, I to need to go back to listening to more opera.I 'm back on the road already, and watching that link really made my night. ( note to self- load Madama Butterfly onto computer ).Thanks again!Bob

I love that video too, chits. It's an inspiration. I loved his no-nonsense approach. He had to have been scared witless but he really held it together, was very courteous and patient during their less-than-hidden initial contempt and then laid 'em back with Puccini. I'm tellin' you, gets me right heah......

I'll admit some ignorance here. I'd heard the piece before, (Nessun Dorma, or something like that) but the video didn't say who composed it. I knew I could purchase Paul Pott's CD, but I wanted the whole opera, and I don't believe his CD contains that. Now, when it comes to Madame Butterfly, I grew up with that opera playin' in my house just about every other day. My mother also loved Carmen and La Traviata. Even though I listened to these operas day in and day out, I just thought of them as 'my mother's music'......but deep in the back recesses of my mind, I must have warmed to them a bit, even though I said, "well, I don't like opera that much.' But that video made me want to dig a little deeper now.

Yeah, they all doubted him.....one judge even rolled his eyes. He really delivered though, didn't he? I'm gonna purchase some Puccini today if I have the time. My in-laws are comin' Saturday and will be here all next week. Aye carumba. Lots of work getting prepared.

Paul Potts rocks. I had never considered listening to opera until I stumbled across this video a few weeks back. Now I am interested in listening to more of him
