Stan's first post

Post by stansongman » Tue Nov 13, 2007 5:05 am

Hey all, this is my first post. I was inspired to get involved after my first (excellent) Road Rally. I'm a country writer by day, but I also have a New Age pianist/composer alter-ego. Feel free to visit my TAXI page (stansongman), check me out and tell me what you think! A few of my newest demos: "Love In Your Life", "Change", "Takin' Me Down". For my New Age thing, check out "Earthrise", "Unexpected Gifts". I have been fortunate to have had some TAXI successes through the years. One of my tunes, "Simple Things" became a Muzak cut and has been happily generating royalties for the past 3 years. "All Up, All In" was used in a Discovery Health special. Plus, I recently got 4 songs placed with a music libraryAlso, being a transplant from Boston after coming to Nashvegas to write for 8 years, I'm happy to give advice to anyone coming to town, either to visit or relocate. Or, anyone who's a Country writer from out of town, and looking to make it in this market.Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Greetings Stan!It makes me feel better to hear from another lad with seemingly-disparate writing interests. I mostly write pop/AC/country stuff, but I regularly dream of writing something Moby/Eno/Shore/Newton Howard/Zimmer-ish and having it used as underscore in something cool..Glad to have you here.

I am learning about writing for country - I'm not quite ready to call myself a country songwriter yet, but it is something I really want to do. I am currently focusing on film/tv listings which can really involve a wide array of styles. I also write choral music (both sacred and secular). So far only my choral music has actually made any money. I'll check out your page and let you know some of my thoughts.Trent

Cool, thanks for the reply. If I can help you with the country end of things, don't be shy!

Hey Stan, Welcome to the forum! You'll dig it. I did a few years in the Nash, and was glad to leave it for the west coast. But, once you get "in", I think it's probably a great place to be if you like the weather and the culture. We didn't really like either... HA!
