Yes, he's adorable, and he was very kind and gracious. He put on a great show. He was witty and kept the audience entertained between playing. Man, Robert Johnson move over.....that's how good Keb was. You know that though. He played my fave, "More Than One Way Home," and some stuff I haven't heard before. Here's something interesting he said to the audience. He joked, "can someone out there put my performance on You Tube?" (although no one could take pics or bring in video cameras). He talked about how it was a 'brave new world' out there and how the record companies were suffering. He joked that he needed all the help he could get. That really spoke to me being and songwriter and all.... it made me realize that even top talent is having a tough time selling records these days. There's so much competition out there now coming from all sources......a new songwriter or artist has an even tougher time of course.

Well, you ask me, his label should be puttin' him on youtube. I know they think "ooh, copyright infringement, bad, bad, bad!" but the exposure is worth a heckuva lot, especially to someone like Keb, who's got quite a catalog and could use more fans (sounds like).Someone fallin' down on the job, you ask me. I mean, shoot, his label can't kick up the cash to video him doing jes one song?

It's true that there is an avalanche of music now available to people through the internet and burning CDs.But one small point I'd like to mention: having a video on YouTube is no substitute for having a dedicated groups of real, live fans that will come out to your live shows, and tell their friends about how much they enjoyed it.In fact, the Internet and YouTube can give musicians the appearance of fame...but with no audiences for their live shows and therefore no money to live on from it. Keb Mo is still way ahead of the musician who only has a bunch of YouTube videos. Because Keb Mo is playing for real people for real money. And that's where the money is.I agree with him, though, that having a 'Net video would be great for him in that his fans could tell friends to check out the video, and that would convince them to come to a show.EDIT: I just looked and Keb has a nice website where he is selling a 2-song CD for $5. So he is on the 'Net.

I wish we could see more of Keb's videos, although You Tube does have some of his stuff on the internet....but you're right, it's copyright infringement....glad he does get some exposure. One good thing, B'ham really does like Keb......the house was literally packed...not one seat left that I could see. Yeah, they need to make more new videos of his new stuff......it's really sad 'coz he's one of the more authentic artists out there. I actually got hooked on Keb by watching CMT....years ago, they aired his "More Than One Way Home" video, and I've been hooked ever since. He's one example of a great artist who has limited airplay, that's for sure.

So he is on the 'Net.Glenn, a 2-song CD for five bucks??? Well, since it's going so cheaply, I'm gonna find the website and purchase it. Keb was joking about You Tube for the most part. I don't think he's hurting because he has a nice little thing going with live audiences as you say. Tickets for the front row seats were 52 dollars, 44 for in-between, and the cheapie seats (the ones I could afford, hehe) were 22 dollars. It was a smaller more intimate place, maybe a 500 to 750 hundred seater, but I'm guessing he made a few bucks. The place was packed. He was just wonderful.....he put on one of the best shows ever, and he really connected with his audience. You make some good points though....it's more about live music these days.....you can't just sit around and wait for it to come to you....you gotta go out there and entertain and build a base. Luckily for Keb, he already has that base. Keb is beyond the average You Tuber.....and actually, You Tube is playing some of his older videos from years ago, so he is getting some exposure.I was struck by how many older people that were in the crowd...people in my age bracket (fifties).......I'm betting a younger crowd would love Keb's stuff if he was more out there. Could be the tickets were a little pricey too.
