Y'all all have a good time at the Rally! I will add that Elser does have my sympathies....and I hope the fan might work for him.

Steve, To me this is a classic example of all forums short comings. Face to face communication is so much better then this barbaric typing. (I really wish I was Rallying)I think your post could be easily misunderstood (and apparently was).Since I have enjoyed many of your humorous posts, I got your gist. Elser, you have my sympathies, I am very fortunate not to have any ear problems.Who wants a group hug?:hug:Rob

Another thing you can do if your ringing ears are keeping you awake at night..... take a dose of Tylenol PM or some other sleep inducing drug.....

They have babies. I cry when I have to pay for dinner. Or have to get up to change the channel. Or if it's too cold. Or too hot. Or..

Just to be clear I was never, nor am I now looking for sympathy...just information.Elser

Greetings! The intention of this post really got me thinking...I spent 12 years as a club DJ. I definitely lost some of my high-end hearing from far too many disco tunes, club-subs, and headphones pounding my face. I currently do sound for two major sports teams, and inside a dome nonetheless. Needless to say, it gets quite loud! I've noticed the past few games that my ears are starting to ring a bit. Add to that, the fact I also play drums on a worship team every weekend, and I think my ears are taking a far too regular beating. It's time to start practicing "safe sound!"Starting tomorrow, it's earplugs for me when I'm at the dome or playing live music...Thanks for the great thread!Blessings,

I'm VERY lucky my hearing is still extremely good, almost super-sensitive, and that's AFTER playing loud guitar for 20 years. One story (which I've told before): Be really careful with headphones!Back in my loud guitar days, I was mixing a rock song, and slapped on some phones to check things out. I got really into it, and after over an hour of listening at high volume, I started to hear some strange, pulsating feedback. I soloed each track; nothing there. I soloed reverb and delay returns; nope.So I took off my headphones and the pulsating feedback was still there! It was my EARS that were freaking out! Man, was I scared. --- After a half hour or so, it subsided. Wow, did that change my attitude about headphones.Pete Townsend attributes his hearing loss to listening to loud music on headphones, NOT playing in front of 4 Hi-Watt stacks for years. I saw a recent Who concert on TV, and he's down to two Fender combo amps. Of course, he admonished the soundman to "Turn the F^ckin' sound UP!" Ern
