New Licensing Companies

Post by rolanoid » Wed Nov 07, 2007 2:30 pm

Hardly a week now passes without me receiving an email from a new company offering to connect me with licensing opportunities for my music. The pack has woken up to the harsh reality that the money is now in performance royalties and touring and are now investing their energies in these areas instead of sales. When the Taxi Dispatch service was first launched the additional fee was justified by it being an additional service that generated additional overheads. The market has changed greatly since then and I myself stopped looking for traditional artist record deals about a year back focusing instead on licensing deals and the kind of stuff that dispatch focused on. With all the sudden competition that Taxi now has in the film, tv and game music licensing area is it not time to include dispatch in the membership fee in order to remain competitive?

One of the reasons Taxi is still around after all these years, while other similar companies keep popping up (and going away), is sound business practices. If the membership at large thinks Dispatch should no longer be a separate service, I'm sure Taxi would consider it. But it most certainly would mean that the yearly membership fee would have to be increased. It's really a miracle as it is that it's still the same as it was when Taxi first opened it's doors, considering not only inflation but also that more value has been added to the membership over the years.matto
