First forward and publishing deal

Post by djp6783 » Tue Dec 09, 2008 9:53 pm

Heloo all!I am a fairly new member of Taxi (about 1.5 yrs). I went to the Road Rally last month to get inspired. I had been getting frustrated with my 20 forwards of songs that all were returned. While at the Road Rally, I gave one CD out (to one A&R rep) who was a headline speaker, along with 100 Taxi members mobbing the stage. I didn't think anything of it and was content that I learned a lot at the Rally. This past week, to my suprise, I received an email from this publisher who offered me a deal for one of my songs. Who knew I could get my CD to the right person at the Rally and get a deal. I thought I would offer this as encouragement to other members to keep it going and get your music out to everyone you can. Good things will happen. javascript:add("%20:)")Dom

I know that not every Forward nets a deal... but I can say that I had a Forward in Dec 06, got an email from them in Dec 07, and signed the deal in Mar 08.)

Congrats on the deal Dom. And thanks for posting it. I love reading things like this, serendipity and effort together, even though I don't reply each time. And I can see the frustration of not having got anywhere (apparently) with 20 forwards which i'm not even in sight of! But I read Vikki too!Tim

Thanks for mentioning that detail...Dom, way to get yourself up to that stage and put yourself out there. If you hadn't, you'd never know what you'd missed!
