ACTION/ADVENTURE forward and a question for you
Hello everybody, I am a guitar player/composer/arranger/producer from Montreal, Canada. I have recently received 2 forwards for the S081010IN opportunity:ACTION/ADVENTURE/HIGH OCTANE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a UK-based Production Music Library for Film/TV placement, etc...One of my forwarded cues is entitled : "The Door" and the other "On fire".Use this link to listen: http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?artist=slapMy question is this, I have received 30 forwards in the last year (no kidding...) and I have yet to hear from anyone or had any business from it. Is this normal? What is a reasonable average of forwards vs actual result ? What can I do about it? Get another 30 forwards ? I'd like to have a perspective on it. Thanks and good luck to everybody here.

First of all - CONGRATS! Well, I think you'll have to wait. I've only been a member since march this year, and I've had almost 30 forwards as well. What I've learned from the gang are that it can take many years before you hear anything, if you do it at all. I recommend to continue sending songs and never give up!

Hiya Orest Thanks for the reply. May I enquire if you do this professionally or as a fun hobby?I do think that the rewards for buying into Taxi, given the effort, time, know-how and dedication, have got to materialize, otherwise it is just a social club, no?

My goal here at Taxi is to be able to earn my livings from composing music. That's why I'm here mainly. Then the social club kicks in I think There are many nice people here!

Am I mistaken but I think the best single thing you can do here, way ahead of writing great stuff or not, is to be at the Taxi rallys, it is probably where the real contacts are made , no? And I am sure there are great people to meet.

And I am sure there are great people to meet. Everyone has a different path. You are posting 1 week after a Taxi Road Rally. Rally excitement and satisfaction are at their highest levels right now. Imagine a group hug for 2300 people. I would say Taxi & the listings, this Taxi Forum and the Taxi Rally are all very important to everyone here, for different reasons. And each of these 3 things has changing levels of importance for everyone as well. The most important personal mantra I have, is to stay open-minded, without assuming I know more than anyone else, or that I don't need to bother learning something.

Steve, you really make a good point! I totally agree with you! I'd love to go to the Rally some year, but it is a bit expensive at the moment traveling all the way from Sweden.

Not cheap, but when there is enough reason to get there, the path becomes visible.

I'd chime in that although the camaraderie is awesome, I find the Forum a good and often quite serious complement to the critiques. My first deal came after a fellow TAXI member suggested some mix tweaks. I've gotten a lot of clarity on what's good enough and what's just not. There's also a wealth of good business information. See the new forum topic devoted to Business questions (can't remember its exact name at the moment). Further, if you're into co-writing, which for some genres (like Country) is a really good idea, you can find partners here from all over the world. Re: the Rally, my first was mind-blowing. My second was fun. It's valuable for contacts, sure, but nothing really beats a forward followed by some communication that leads to a long-term relationship. You don't necessarily need the Rally for your music to find its way to a good TAXI client.congrats on the many, many forwards and best wishes that you hear from someone very soon.CK
