hi folks. my name is jefty. i've been seeing the add in magazines and i'm really curious about taxi. i know what it does, from reading your posts and threads from other sites. i'm just wondering, since i'm not in the states, i'm based in dubai, will it benefit me as good as the u.s. based guys? does taxi has lots of members outside the states? what if i become a member, submit my track and get a call from an agency stateside. will they be turned off since the transfer of legalities, fees will be a little harder since i'm not in the neighborhood? i know, too much questions for a newcomer. but i want everything clear before i join. future thanks to all future answers....

hi jefty, welcome on the board.I'm a Swiss guy and have several placements in MTV shows in the U.S., as well as a couple of contracts with companies in the U.S. (some of them through taxi). In times of internet, the geographic distance shouldn't be an issue - its very rare in my experience that an oppurtunity had gone because of the distance. the only time I can remember that this was happening to me was when a producer also wanted me to play live (not only in the studio) for an artist - but that's a completely diffrent situation than most of the taxi-oppurtunities are.you might also post your songs on this board to find out if they're ready for the listing you want to submit.btw: how is live in dubai...? I only heard that a lot of the people there are very wealthy... true or false..? well I guess it's like that a lot of people think that all Swiss citizen do jodeling, have their basement full of cheese & chocolate etc... cheers, martin

There's lot's of good advice.BTW.I'm sure I've seen a few others on here from dubai, and they are fully paid up members. Why don't you hunt them down and PM them.try going to http://www.taximusic.comYou might find some of them on there. I'm sure some of your fellow countrymen on here will probably be able to answer some of your questions.

thanks for your responses jeffe and gitarrero. i'm not a local dubai citizen, i'm just based here. i'm actually a filipino. a dj who was once a guitar player in a show band, then i became a keyboard player, then i had a midi band( that's me, a keyboard, a sequencer, and 4 ladies around late nineties). i'm djing straight now for 7 years but it goes a long way back to mid nineties when my band would break up, i'm left to play with vinyls. anyway, i have a small studio setup, and i've done projects for dubai tv, some company profiles, and i've work on some radio gigs and studio time back in philippines. i'm doing the music for a kids website. it's gonna be ready 2nd week of april, so i'll update you with the link if you'd like to hear my work. i would love to upload some of my early works to a site but i don't know any. maybe you can recomend one for me. i'm gonna join taxi anyway. i just had those questions/ worries to be sorted out before i do join. the two of you actually calmed me down. thanks.

btw: how is live in dubai...? I only heard that a lot of the people there are very wealthy... true or false..? from gitarrero.it's quite true. but there are a lot of ordinary folks doing ordinay jobs. i mean, the sheiks are wealthy. and you'll find some people spend a hundred to 3 hundred dollars in the club each day of the month. but there are also laborers here who are earning 2 to 3 hundred dollars a month. the flats just increased by forty percent. well i don't have to worry about that since i have a free room with the hotel i'm working with. all in all, living in dubai is easier than in philippines.
