Do you use isrc or ?????

As I was looking around last night I came across isrc... whcih is an international code embedded into your recording that acts as a universal identifier for the track... Givern the discussion elsewhere on the board about the piracy issues of someone submitting your stuff as their own... I was wondering if anyone has used this code, or if the library or publisher gets one ... I was looking in my SoNAR, iTUNES, and AUdioediting software for a means of putting in the code but doesn't seem to be directly supported.... anyone have info or thoughts...ArkJack

Hey Ark - how the heck are you?Listen - yet another great thing about CD Baby and their digital distribution deal - before they send your songs out for distribution from iTunes, Emusic, etc., they generate ISRC numbers for each song. So, all 31 tracks ONOFFON has available for download from any of those sites, has it's individual code number embedded in each track.Just like having each individual BMI Work number - pretty cool, eh?Cheers,Von from ONOFFON

The Red Book audio format supports ISRC encoding to CDs. You are probably looking to the wrong apps! Most CD burning software can do it. High end audio apps like Bias Peak Pro can as well.

If you are doing film & TV stuff and want to protect yourself as much as possible (or rather, earn as much as possible) you should look into Verance as well - www.verance.com . They provide a digital watermarking service that doesn't affect the sound of your songs, but lets them track their use on TV (etc) very accurately. I have heard stories of composers using it and seeing big increases in their royalties, as the usage of their songs was being more properly recorded.
