placement on mtv "pimp my ride"..!

Post by gitarrero » Tue Dec 19, 2006 11:32 am

Hi fellows, exactly one year ago I get the email that a publisher placed 5 tracks on the mtv series "yo mama".Now I get another email from the same publisher that 6 of my tracks have been licensed for "pimp my ride", and I will know in spring 07 which of my tracks defenitly have been used - I must admit if this is happening each year (...plus a few other placements..) I could get used to that.. As far as I know "yo mama" was closed soon, but "pimp my ride" is a series that even gets worldwide airplay (originals from the us, with subtitle). I don't know yet if this will be the case with my tracks, but it would be defenitly cool!I just wanted to share that with all of you, especially with the ones who don't have any placement yet; believe me: if you're stuff is good and you keep sending it out (while being a nice and professional person in your behaviour...), you WILL succeed. If me as a little swiss cheese can do that in his own home-studio, a lot of other people can do that as well.btw that happened besides taxi (I'm a member for just 3 month now, so I believe placements through taxi will come, too).cheers!Martin

Excellent, Martin!I'm going to go out and pimp my ride in your honor.20" chrome wheels with some serious rubber, DVD players in the headrests, a new supercharger, a Borla exhaust, and undercarriage florescent lighting. And maybe some of those hydraulic shocks that can bounce my ride up and down.Too bad I'm driving a Yugo. Way to go Martin my friend!Yeah it's a pretty popular show so best of luck to you! FYI normally on a show like that, the same music used in the US version will be kept for the international syndication as well.So make sure you get the Episode Number and/or Title of any episodes that used your track(s) from the publisher when (s)he receives them, so you can check them out when they air in Europe to see if your songs made it...Best of luck!Matt

That's great news! May this be only one of a long string of sucesses for you (which wouldn't surpirise me considering the quality of your tracks).Andre

Congrats. Good to see you have some success.I listened to one of your tracks called Running. It was barely a minute long. Is it acceptable to send out one minute tracks for film and TV submissions. I have seen various things about song length on here, but I haven't gotten it quite straight yet. I think someone said you always send them three minutes worth though they may only use a snippet. What is your take on the length thing? Also, what format were these tracks in...wave, CD, etc.? Thanks.

thanks guys and gals for the nice words!@jesse: the mp3s on my homepage are just snippets - "running" has a full length of about 5 - 6 min. and was released on a lounge-sampler in germany 2 years ago.my stuff that has been placed for tv so far was about 2-4 min. long. The "on air time" was between 5 seconds and maybe one minute or so.format: I had to send a CD when the tracks where placed. Before that the publisher only had mp3s of my stuff (and actually used them to place the tracks). For film pitches the publisher often asks for the wav/aif file since music supervisors seem to ask for that.so far my experience.@matto: ..I keep my finger crossed - that would be great - worldwide airplay..!
