"MichaelWrite the darn Book !!!!!"They're working on it now. M.L. and all the screeners are doing the edits as we speak. You know, "THE BEST OF TAXI FORUM BLOGS" It's backed by popular TAXI member demand. You'll be able to get a free copy if you're a TAXI member and you have to attend at least 5 Road Rallys. Otherwise it's $39.95 plus tax, shipping and handling. Just kidding LOL!

As a Music Library, I need to cover a multitude of genres, styles, artists, etc.... Sorta like a car dealership who sells new and pre-owned vehicles vs someone (publisher) who's priorities lie in establishing a relationship with the seller(s) more than the buyers. I would tend to think that the stock houses/libraries have closer relationships with the buyers as they're the supply side of the equation. What makes this a particularly interesting and difficult question is, both the publisher and the library host need to be productive in order to compete in the markets. All markets be they songs or music for F&V/multi-media.That's why the relationship between composers and libraries/publishers is a symbiotic one, at least that's the ultimate goal. As composers we spend our lives learning how to write music, the people at the publisher/libraries have spent their lives making relationships with their clients and learning how to sell music to them.Without music, they'd have nothing to sell, without publishers/libraries out there working for us, we'd have to spend more time on that and less time writing.

"without publishers/libraries out there working for us, we'd have to spend more time on that and less time writing."I seem to be spending an awful lot of time promoting and exploiting my music. Where are all the publishers? I mean, that's one good reason I opted for TAXI so they could spend a little more time doing what I don't really have time to do for my music. And, while we're graveling with good questions, how does one classify the differences between and good publicist and a publisher? (they both have the "pub" in common.) No pun intended.

Well, the first trick is to sign with some libraries and publishers!! That's going to take some effort in the promoting department. That's why having TAXI on your side is a good thing, if your music is excellent, it's only a matter of time before you'll be getting some deals. Hang in there!Mazz
