submitting one song to multiple listings

Post by kskoogs » Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:09 am

Hey everybody,A question or two regarding submitting the same song to multiple listings:I just had a song forwarded to a "non-exclusive" listing and I want to submit this same song to a listing that says "5-year reversion clause". Not knowing what a 5-year reversion clause means yet, I assume this would be OK?And this brings me to this question: What if I have a song that I submit to multiple non-exclusive listings and then comes along a listing that has an exclusive buy-out clause. Should I go ahead and submit said song to the exclusive listing anyway? What then happens if I were to get notice that both listing companies ( non-exclusive and exclusive) wanted same song? Thanks in advance!Skoog

I asked a similar question in this post: http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?a ... &page=1See question #3.The consensus answer is that you should keep pitching the track to multiple listings until you get a deal. If two companies want the same tune, that's a great problem.Interestingly, since I posted this question, I have received offers for exclusive deals for a few tunes I had already signed to non-exclusive deals. The trick is that, of course, you won't get all the offers simultaneously! The non-exclusive offers came a couple months after the listing, and the exclusive offers came over a year after.Good luck!

Yeah definitely keep pitching the song until you have a deal, to any listing that looks like you might be interested in signing a deal if you were offered one.The main reason Taxi usually has this info in the listing is that some people are not interested in exclusive deals (like if the song is already signed non-exclusively, or they wanna hang on to all rights as they are shooting for an artists deal), and can thus avoid wasting their submission bucks.
