Hey Kitz,Yeah, I think I've experienced 6 months or so in the past. They just move slow. You might want to check into the online registration. Once you figure it out, its much easier.

Library of Congress=Molasses on a Cold Day. Don't worry though, your works are considered copyrighted from the date of the post mark on the envelope.

I believe your works are legally considered copyrighted from the time they're put down in a tangible form. Perhaps the LoC "backdates" their registration of the copyrighted works to the postmark on the envelope, but you're technically covered the moment you create the work.I could be wrong...AndréNov 3, 2008, 2:14pm, weapon wrote:Library of Congress=Molasses on a Cold Day. This is where they accidentally incinerate our CD(s) in their process to detect harmful chemicals on our submissions and then ask us to submit everything all over again. You're "official" notification for actual completion should be arriving... around the year 2012. Like the other's mentioned though... you're covered.

I also sent for copyrights in February and have yet to receive anything. My return receipt proves that they received it.I sent another batch of tunes in in September. They are now using a new form...Form CO. (I'm not sure if you can still use Form PA.) You complete the new form online, print it out and mail it in. It has bar codes on it, so hopefully it will speed things up. They said right on the website (www.copyright.gov) that it would take 10 months. It used to be four to six weeks!I'm looking forward to meeting many of you at the Rally.Bob

I sent some stuff to Uncle Sam's library on Jan 4, and have not heard anything yet. In the meantime I tried out the online method and got back a registration in about 10 weeks. They are trying to discourage registration by mail.

did you send a self-addressed, stamped postcard with your submission? if so, their mail room should have stamped it with the receipt date and mailed it back to you, and that would be your Library of Congress registration date. it can take forever for the actual form to arrive but the postcard comes back within a couple of weeks of your mailing in the package.
