Yep, especially if they have a backlog of submissions. Most times it has taken 6 months + to get my documentation. However your copyright is valid the moment it gets received by the LOC. They date stamp the arrival for this purpose.Best,Cisko

Re: Library of Congress SLOW???
I've done four collections via snail mail and one via online copyright, or eCO.I'll never do snail mail again. Online is cheaper ($35.00 as opposed to $45.00) and I got my certificate back in less than two months.Plus there's actually humans there to answer the phone.Another plus is that after you open a claim, it stays open for 45 days and you can upload anything you want during that time. How many times have you sent off a collection for registration and then wrote a few songs and said, "Damn, I don't want to spend the buck for just a few songs."If the claim stays open, you can add to it over time. New Question--hope you don't mind the hijack. This is my first time using the online method- a few of you have used this. i'm doing a giant collection, and i'm not seeing anything about where to put the individual titles in the collection. by the old standards i would write it on form PA/Con (continuation sheet). am i missing something? how will all the individual songs be accounted for?

Re: Library of Congress SLOW???
Thanks Jeff, and also Wig for the PM--- i had my collective work listed as a "content title," instead of "title of work" so everything was messed up. once my collective work became the "title of work," i was able to put in all the individual names under "content titles." at that point it was a piece of cake. ah technology- scary at first, then makes things easier.byllsong, i didn't learn how many individual names you could add but i just added 32 so you can at least do that many.

I've found it can take up to 8 months to get your registration of copyright back, while it can take up to 4 before they cash your check...Go figure...You CAN claim copyright from THE DAY YOU ail it off as they got the proof.
