Good morning guys. I found someone who is willing to assist me on some vocal melodies to my R&B and Pop lyrics (I can write decent lyrics for days but I have a hard time arranging how they should be sang since I am a rapper and not a vocalist), but the only thing is she wants to include them in her portfolio (Soundcloud) when they have been completed.
Is it wise to post a song online that you are trying to pitch for placements? I'm assuming that the songs shouldn't be posted anywhere outside of Taxi if Taxi is your main vehicle for pitching. I'm weighing my options and it's not like she's asking for an ownership portion of the rights, so this portfolio request of hers seems harmless but I dunno. I need some advice since I'm still new to all of this.
Posting songs that you are attempting to pitch. Need advice.

I don't see any issue with it. As long as you are both on the same page about who gets to pitch what, where and when. If she isn't doing any pitching at all, merely sharing for her own promotional purposes then there shouldn't be an issue.
However, make sure you have all your paperwork in order too. Is the singer doing vocals as a work-for-hire or co-writing split? You're going to need that in a formal agreement before anyone will sign/place it.

It's a work for hire situation. I found a good template to a form online so I'm going to have her sign that.

Hi there folks. Sorry i dont have any tips in relation to the question at hand as i sing, write and play myself so have no experience of working with other musicians. But one thing was mentioned there which i was curious about. The idea of posting a song online while also being a member of TAXI. Do you think this is a problem? Personally i was going to use the web to pitch a couple of my songs as well as TAXI. My thoughts on this were that you have to sell yourself using as many means as possible. And if that means using media such Youtube etc then go for it. I'd be interested on hearing other folks thoughts on this.

Post em Gator. Post anywhere you feel it best to exploit your work.
Commissary - I like signed split agreements with collaborators and paper work up front on the work for hires.
