PRO question

Post by Russell Landwehr » Wed Jul 03, 2013 5:44 pm

Is it possible to have 100% publishing with a single PRO if the writers are from different PROs?
i.e. Writer 1 BMI 50%, Writer 2 ASCAP 50%, Publisher BMI 100%

I think it is, but that situation would probably be one where the publisher is one of the songwriters.

Most libraries have one ASCAP publisher, one BMI publisher, and maybe one SESAC publisher.

Many other countries only have one PRO so the writer would be with PRO "FAX" and the publisher would also be with PRO "FAX".

Thanks, DI.

This also brings to mind: how it does it work for an American writer that is a member of an American PRO but places tracks with a library in another country.

Typically, the libary will register the tracks with their PRO in their country and they will ask for your PRO details which go on the registration.
