Problems recording mod wheel automation with NI Vintage Organs
For some reason I'm not able to record mod wheel automation with the NI Vintage Organs in Logic X. It's connected by default to the rotator speed which is what I want to do. And it works when I'm playing it but it won't record the speed changes. I've tried it on both latch and touch. I can draw it in but that's not nearly as cool. I have rotator speed selected in the automation pull down menu. What up? The keyboard I'm playing is a Nektar Impact LX25.

Are you recording 1 take when you are playing and a second overlapping doing CC's (like mod wheel?).
If so, I think you have to set Logic to "merge" the recordings.

Re: Problems recording mod wheel automation with NI Vintage Organs
hey Jon,
without doing anything else, if you start up an empty Logic X project and make an instrument track and instantiate the NI Vintage Organs, by default both sustain pedal and mod wheel control Rotor speed. Fiddling with either one will make the Rotor go as long as in the Amp page of the Vintage Organs you have Rotor turned on (red light on).
If you try to record and nothing is happening I would try an empty project just to make sure. You can always import the track into your working Logic X project if you find the start from scratch method works.
You shouldn't have to select anything in the Automation page in Kontakt. If you are messing with that I am not the guy to sort that out as I have avoided messing with that at all costs cause its not that straight forward.
You will find the automation in logic by turning on the automation lanes and it should be recorded in the region under CC1 or CC64 depending on what you used to trigger the Leslie.
If none of the above works, then there is something else afoot - if you are using a template project that might be corrupted.

Re: Problems recording mod wheel automation with NI Vintage Organs
David Nahmani on Logic Pro Help gave me the simple answer. Don't worry about latch or touch just press record. Seems like it used work differently. I usually draw in automation but for that particular effect it's better to play it. Thanks you both for chiming in!
