Problems with Recording in Cycle mode in Logic 7.0

Post by mewman » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:25 am

This is probably mind numbingly simple, but....When trying to record several consecutive versions of a solo in cycle mode and then picking the best one from the automatically muted tracks, I seem to be locked out of the muted tracks. I've ticked the boxes for "Auto Create Tracks In Cycle Record", and "Auto Mute In Cycle Record". As I play over the cycled section I see the automatically created and muted tracks appear just below the original. They are greyed out and a dot appears just to the left of the track name. For the life of me, I can't seem to be able to listen to anything other than the last take. The newly created tracks are not Muted in the conventional sense (the mute button is not turned on) and going into the File/song settings/recording window and unchecking the auto mute in cycle mode option doesn't affect the muted state. I'd really like to figure this out! Mewman

Try hitting the "M" key when the track you want to hear is selected.

M is very useful. You can mute individual notes in the Matrix editor using it too, by the way.

Very cool! I've begun making my way through the manual page by page and am really impressed with the depth of Logic. I realize all the programs out there are like this. What a pleasure to live in an age when tools like these are available! Thanks for the tip, by the way!Mewman

This is one of those "duh" things because it is just so obvious yet it is not. I stumbled on it by accident when I mistakenly muted some notes and it took a bit to track it down.
