imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Sounds like they want short, popular (or at least well-known) public domain piano pieces.

POPULAR PUBLIC/DOMAIN CLASSICAL COMPOSITIONS a la William Tell Overture, Fur Elise, Blue Danube Waltz etc., needed by an East Coast Music Library/Publisher for the purpose of Film/TV placements and licensing. This company has signed and placed dozen of TAXI songs, and offers an exclusive deal. Any arrangement style will be considered, as long as the tone is right. Excellent performances are absolutely necessary. Broadcast quality needed (excellent home recordings are okay). Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Noon (PST) on Thursday, September 2, 2010. TAXI #D100902CL

This is a dispatch listing.

It states that any arrangement and style will be considered.

I would imagine that you could get the score to something and do the exact score, or do an arrangement or adaptation such as an orchestral arrangement of a piano piece. If it is done with "excellent performances" then it may get through.

Just my interpretation.

Cheers!

At first thought, I'm thinking, being public domain, why don't they use a public domain recording of some classical thing. Cheap right? But then I remembered they'd have to use one from before 1925 or there abouts and that might not be BQ...
