Question about hearing back

Post by ronnie35 » Sat Dec 13, 2014 8:23 pm

HI this question goes out to anyone who already has their material in a library. Say you signed either as a non ex or ex how long does it take to hear back from the library ?after they ask for your songs. Do you ? Or is it a matter of patience. :?

You mean you've signed with them and sent them the tracks they want and you're waiting tio hear back? What are you expecting to hear from them? The only time I hear from my publishers is if I get a placement with upfront money (sync fee) or if they are looking for a particular style of track for a specific opp. Not sure if that answers your question but hopefully it helps.

I have only worked with a few libraries but all have been fairly lengthy back and forth conversations. With the last deal, it was about 4 months from when the library first contacted me with interest in a forward to the songs appearing in their online catalogue. I responded to their emails immediately and would typically get a response a week later. If it got two weeks out I would usually send a short "is there anything else you need from me" email to make sure I didn't get lost. These things take time.

I've only dealt with two libraries so far... One is really "iffy" on correspondence. They asked for my song and I sent it on CD along with signed contracts they sent me (and I had to "suppose" they wanted it on CD because they never specified) and got a signed contract back. But as far as the status of things there... it's kind of a black hole.

The other is FANTASTIC at communications. I send them cues very regularly, and I hear back from my contact usually within a couple of days. Yeah... I keep writing for THEM!
