Quick question. THere's a jazz-listing I might be interested to do. However I'm not sure I fully understand one of the sentences in the listing. When they say "We don't want a solo-instrument..", what does that exactly mean?
a.) We don't want a solo-instrumental
b.) We don't want a solo-instrument in the music ( which is the case in almost the entire piece in on of their references)
“Blackearth” by Bohren & Der Club of Gore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcDfVsQ-qhY
“This is for a scene in the Hollywood Hills were someone gets knifed, so it should set the background tone for this violent, dark scene. We don’t want a solo instrument, rather, small ensemble Jazz played well, but without being too present."
I have a fitting piece and I play saxophone so this could be a fun for me. Sorry if this question is a bit stupid for some but just want to be sure to fully understand the listing.
Cheers
Benjamin

Re: Question about nuance and context.
so no solo piano for instance. NO Piano only tracks. No vibes only tracks.a.) We don't want a solo-instrumental
There are some spaces where the piano does take over (however small they are).b.) We don't want a solo-instrument in the music ( which is the case in almost the entire piece in on of their references)
and the sax in general doesn't rip on the piece. just pretty laid back.
reminds me of Miles Davis's score to Ascenseur pour l'échafaud.
similar really to me.
